I watched it and I've genuinely forgotten the result already.

Not a classic by any stretch - which is what perhaps we have to expect on our first season back.

Stoke are set up to niggle and time waste for the full 90 minutes and they knocked us off our stride in the first half. Nice block off for their goal, but Allardyce is hardly one to reasonably complain about something like that!

Our record so far is the same as Arsenal's and better than Spurs. And that's with playing Andy - 'Ref! He pushed me! - Carroll game in, game out.

I think Andy Carrol does ok.

I have a soft spot for West ham & always like to see them do well. I just hope there's a way of achieving that without that gum chewing, rag loving, pig being involved.

'OK' is not going to persuade our owners to cough up £17M in transfer fees plus £80k p/w in wages.

As non-scoring strikers go, he's fine.

I can't quite guage your thoughts on Allardyce though. :0)

I only watched it coz ive got Stoke keeper Begovic and Winston Reid of West Ham in my fantasy football team .

Two proper anti football managers in Pulis and Alladyce who both use a big daft cunt up front which nullifies the finer art of football in PASSING the ball and keeping posession . Stoke have scored just 5 goals this season i think ...... who the fuck would pay decent money to watch that shite ? :)
Not really here

Interesting to see Chelsea are using Hazard as a false forward - have they been watching Ajax and Eriksen playing against us by any chance?

I've never understood the concept of a false forward/number nine. I mean, everyone can see the player is there, so what's false about it? Could you explain it to me?

It's basically a Tevez. Someone who drops deep at certain times of the match giving central defenders a headache (or in some cases they stay out wide).

Cool. Thanks, I finally get it. THen Tevez must be one of the best false forwards there is right? It's like him... Messi... and that other guy in Trafford. Or?

Argentina seems to have a tradition of it - Messi is probably as good as it gets.

False nines are taking up different positions to regular CFs, dropping & staying deep so the defenders don't have anyone to mark, creating a numerical advantage in midfield or pulling the centre backs out of position as a result. The wingers usually play higher up the pitch than a false nine as well, which makes them recipients more often than suppliers compared to a regular set up.

I think it's mostly a pile of bollocks.

They drop deep, they go wide, they go forward.

This bloke was doing that in black & white & nobody gave a special name to it.

Had Soccer Saturday on before to listen in the background, even that's given up the ghost now.

I hear that the Arsenal penalty was the most blatant dive yet, Carzola trying to strip Young and Suarez of the title?

Watching Chelsea-Sunderland and Sunderland should've been down to 10 men 2 minutes in. Torres appears to be in form again although Sunderland does suck.

Can't believe what is going on with Swanseas defense right now

Torres scores again today. If he's not careful he might be finding a bit of good form.
