How many of the youngsters could we play today. Who's on the uefa roster. Could possibly rest all the big names for the rags this weekend.

Dortmund will play a bit of a second string as well, so I wouldn't rule out a reasonable result even with our fringers.

I'd prefer to rest Zab & Komp, but fact is, we're stretched quite thin at the back with Kolo not eligible & Richards, Clichy & possibly Kola out. Midfield picks itself without Yaya, Silva & Milner. Sinclair should get a start, maybe even Pants in goal. Upfront... who knows.

Dortmund are a very good side, they hammered us at home and we should of been beaten atleast 5-0.
I can't see this going well and i reckon they will put out a full strength side.
But I'll stop being pessimistic, c'mon citeh!

As I said above, they won't. They're through already & all the predicted line-ups so far have been missing Piszczek, Subotic, Bender, Kehl, Blaszczykowski & Gotze. Far from a reserve side with the quality they have, but not their strongest by a long way.

I have a feeling that one of the teams is going to play a full strength side and the other a very weakened one. Furthermore, if it turns out we put a strong XI and they put out a weak side we may just edge it with one goal win but other way round it could be a massacre!

Oh, and not only have Dortmund qualified they have also topped the group no matter what Real Madrid does in their game so they will surely rest their main players ... problem is so will Real Madrid and if Ajax wins there, our win doesn't take us to the Europa ...

I for one am looking forward to us getting to Europa League ... a whole week to pass in between City games is a bit much, bring on the mid-week games and if we are through it for next two rounds, of 32 and 16, we might take it a lot more seriously than people here and at the Club seem to let on ...

If Piszczek plays we're in trouble.

Want us to get into Europa Lge but not very hopeful for tonight, think we'll lose by a couple of goals. As for rotation, due to injuries and suspensions we will find it difficult to rest defenders and midfielders for Sunday.

fair enough Joleon, think You and Mase are not alone there.
But I think Your sentiments are wrong on few levels:
1) I am very interested to see how the Boys shall cope with the bold statement made by Vinnie: think it might be telling for the future, if You can get focused in a game like this, few days ahead a massive derby, that's a solid step up, imo
2) I expect an entertaining game: Dortmund may well line second string (not sure, tho) and we miss a couple of big guns as well, but They are probably the Club who have developed more youngster in Europe, in recent years, so I don't expect those eventual second strings to be all that crap. Just wish Guidetti had been ready for this: would have been a perfect test.

Hope I partly succeded to recover Your spirit, Mate.
Too much depression around of recent, if even the General starts flogging his dick....

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

Really looking forward to tonight's game. The pressure is off the players and manager (and Dortmund I know) so it will be interesting to see how he sets the team up to play, and the player selection to a point, plus obviously how well we play.

I half expect he will start with a 5.3.2 formation to see if can work from the start and it would be nice to see some individuals get some confidence from the game. And maybe a young gun will be given some minutes late on which will be good to watch.

Either Lescott left back or Barry/Sinclair left wingback by the look of it.

So all 3 of our best central defenders are playing in the same game, a few days before a derby. Let's hope they don't collide.
