I agree (but not with the spelling). If 5,000 'tourists' come to the game, that doesn't stop the rest of the fans signing.

I'm all for new 'customers' coming, as some of them will become fans. The rest will just help pay a few quid towards the targets and keep the costs down for the rest of us.

Yeah but it wouldn't be like that, loads of newbies will be sat taking pictures and drinking tea. Block 110 was full of day trippers vs Real and that's apparently our singing section. I would be shocked to see a 65,00 city fans bouncing on a champions league night intimidating the opponents, don't get me wrong I would love it, but it want happen, we are going the same way as the rags......!

If we had the whole south stand as those who wanna stand and sing i recon it would be rocking

there is only one way that would happpen and that is standing, if you can stand you can wonder over to were all the singers are and join in, at the moment you are sat next to some fat arsed twat who is eating cheese and onoin crisp moaning about toure every 2 minutes, fuck me i would love the guy next to me choke on his crisp/pie

If the club advertised it as the singing end then only sold season tickets there not 1 match ticket then it wouldn't have day trippers in and those who wanted to sit would need to move over to a seat eventually it would end up people who wanted to stand sing and have a laugh

finished the survey at work, would only pay the cheapest! they were looking for people to pay £40 to sit there!

btw I just wanna point out that on the 3rd tier of the east stand i spent most of the fooking pearce/eriksson/hughes years sat on my own so a bit of fellow body heat is welcome! yeah loads of tourists getting in my way but a load of them want athmosphere too, especially the Serbs! the more the merrier! just please don't fuck off with 15 minutes to go like most of the locals

City need to recognise the ground is bob for atmosphere and how they can fix that! (realistic tickets and a spacious standing area)

There were some very fit French & Asian girls with City gear on at the Real Madrid game & even some Spanish ones too come to think of it.

I am all for it.

If we can get 10k of them for our next dull draw with Everton, it at least gives me something to look at.

No offence Mancio, but I've been going to as many games as I can since the 1995-96 season. In all honesty, I do kind of despise the fact that you can swan in and get a season ticket, and by the 2013-2014 season will have more loyalty points than me. Do you not understand that it is a bit of a turd in the face to those of us who are less wealthy or have to travel further? I don't begrudge you your season ticket, but the day you post pictures of yourself at Wembley cheering us on is the day that I will truly realise that I have no place any more as a Fan of My Club.

I've decided over the past few months that I don't want my kids to follow City after me, but to follow their own local team, wherever they're born and/or grow up. City should always be their second club, though.

I'd be mad keen for it...and I don't think I'd be alone.

Never mind this nonsense about daytrippers etc....we might add some more "local" supporters in due course and re-add some who've stopped coming but our real matchday crowd increases will increasingly not come from the North West. That is a fact and we need to get used to it

Well when I was driving up every single match in the mid nineties to be tortured for 90 minutes there were between around 24,000 and 32,000 of us.

So who are all these extra fuckers that have taken my place now? Tourists?

I've decided over the past few months that I don't want my kids to follow City after me, but to follow their own local team, wherever they're born and/or grow up. City should always be their second club, though.

Dear Andrew,

I think You are aware of in what respect I take You, as a Person, able to merge huge culture in straightforward manners, resulting more often than not in very sensible and wise opinions, allround.
Far from offensive, Your effort in let me aware of a widespread sentiment in the Mancunian Community is much appeciated and can only improve my esteem of You: although I am not blind nor deaf, so that it didn't take me long to realize it.
Fairly so: I am all about pursuivants of tradition and I certainly won't take on specious arguments like football being turned into an entertainment industry, sadly, rather just the Flag of Local Prides.
Certainly any topic doesn't mean the same to everyone and I gladly acknowledge to be more sensible and reactive on this one, while others, who couldn't afford to spend time on traditional educational courses because taken by much compelling urgencies, may result more sensible when a show off of certificates is at stake, for an instance.

Still, I am not sure if You have got that I have not addressed my frustration against a whatever and polite expression of such sentiments, but I angrily reacted to a cretin who vows to organize a "special enclosure" deemed to contain a "special kind of persons".

Now while I don't buy at all this regressive "tourists/gloryhunters" crap, I'd take a point of pride if You would understand a couple of thingies of me (for which I don't demand/expect/deserve any praise!):

a) I was born supporter of my local Club and shall remain faithfully commited all life long, when I joined the Forum, the vast majority of the folks will be thinking because of Mancini only (can't help!) at least till he will be replaced, MCFC were hardly a destination for "tourists" and very little, if anything could have lead to expect different evolution than when Frank owned the Club: there was only financial wealth surroounded by a massive turmoil allround.
I once tried, with my limited means, to share reasons of how and why an original sympathy for City spread through my family, has progressively grown on me and turned into genuine passion for the Blues. I thought You browsed there and, if interested, I'd be delighted to expend on, should we'll ever have the chance to spare sometime next each other.

b) STs I bought were and still are intended to be shared within this Community of Hardcore Blues. with main focus on the use of those travelling Blues who share with me the regret for not being able to attend more, while having to sustain huge additional costs and working discomfort.
I will probanly use them not much than 4 games, perhaps just a "tourist" would have just bought four tickets through Viagogo, wouldn't he?
I certainly does not intend to come and steal dreams of local supporters and should I understand that such sentiments are actual majority, I will seriously consider not to renew.

I think everyone should try and support football at a grass roots level tbh.

My dad is a manc, moved south and brought me up as a devoted blue, I get to city games when I can but not as often as i'd like. However I still go and support my local side, Braintree Town, as they fight it out down in the conference.

There's lots to be said for standing in the cold cheering on a team of misfits then going and having a pint with the club captain and the lads in the clubhouse after. This sort of thing is gone from top level football but an honest "raw" football experience still exists at grass roots.

I'd encourage any fan of football to support that.

Being called a cretin is a tad harsh ! Been called far worse though :)

Touchy subject it seems ! Arsenal have a wonderfull state of the art stadium ........ more and more empty seats by the week and possibly a half empty stadium in the near future due to issues within the club . I and many many other MCFC supporters dont want my club going down that road.

However it is only inevitable it will happen though IMHO.

I agree. I was a Swansea season ticket holder as a kid (never liked the Welsh league, plus the teams massively hike the ticket prices for games in Europa League against whoever finished 4th in Lithuania and suchlike) when they were in Division 3/League Two nowadays, and support a team in BiH which gets crowds of 400-500, despite currently lying third in the Bosnian Premiership. Unfortunately, they've just agreed a merger with a team about 200KM away, which involves a relocation, so it looks like I'll be clubless as from next season here...
