I don't want either of them at City to be honest.

Agree with that completely. I admire Martinez as a manager.

Good discussion point by opening poster and the differences in opinions and that both managers have potential flaws could indicate we already have a very good manager in charge. With Jose, his teams do play good stuff, but he has to end this 2-3yrs and then i'll move on cycle. With Pep, we know he's good but nobody knows quite how good. On another point, Mancini's reign will never be considered a failure as the man is a hero for winning two trophies. He was given a 5 year contract in July, the club would have known who Chief Exec and tech director were going to be at that time, so length of contract is significant. Another trophy and/or a strong title defence (no team wins the lge every season) will certainly ensure Mancini's position.

Maureen's a nomad. We'd be looking for a new manager in a couple of years when he moves on. Doesn't stick around long enough for me.

We really don't need a new manager.

And no Bob couldn't keep Wigan up. Nor could he get West Ham promoted. Those really aren't the skills you'd covet right now tho are they?

Cheers

Pep.

To me there is no doubt that Roberto will be sacked at the end of the season, wouldnt be surprised if it was earlier, if there epl form gets out of hand or they fall far behind in the title race. 2 straight years being out at the group stage in the champions league, not acceptable to all the money hes spent on transfers. its well known that Roberto's back heel is in europe and he wont win a champions league with any team, he is great in the league but in Europe he dosent have balls to succeed. With new Sporting Director Txiki Begiristrain, Pep Guardiola's old pal at Barcelona in the glory days. Pep created the Barcelona Academy, players like Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Valdes, Puyol, Pique, Pedro, Sergio Busquetts. If Mourinho is hired he will try to win a champions league just like everywhere he goes. This Man City team need a strong academy that will improve the future. The only way this squad will become successful is when there is chemistry within the squad, right now that is tremendously lacking. I think Pep will try to build a project that can be successful now and for down the road. Mourinho may win now but he may leave with a mess for the near future. I have an Italian background, when Mourinho left Inter after winning the champions league, the squad was a mess. He had players like Lucio, Cambiasso, Julio Cesar, Milito, Sneijder(injury prone) who were washed up. Last year they finished 7th in Serie A. They have gone through 4-6 managers since Mourinho's departure. Thats why Pep Guardiola is the right choice for this club if Mancini does get sacked. Even with Mancini this squad will win the EPL title this year. There is no squad that can compete depth wise with this team. That will be the difference near the end of the season.

LULZ @ these idiot topics about us cherry picking manager. What gives people the idea Mourinho would even want to join us? Or that Pep Guardiola, who doesn't speak word of English and has never managed anywhere but Barcelona, would be any sort of success or in fact would like to join us?
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Don't get all defensive mate, it's a talking point. I don't see many calling for Mancini's head so no need to go over the top.

PS. Anyone who chooses Maureen is an absolute twat, I'm telling you ;-)

Guardiola speaks English well.

gvercillo - interesting post mate, encapsulates most people's thoughts on Mancini. I personally think Mancini will still be here next season, but we'll see.

if we do part ways with mancini - I would like to examine what klopp has washed up with at the end of the season, another domestic title and the champs league would have to make him the favourite - his style of football he gets teams playing is also pretty breathtaking

mourinho second for me as I think Pep is just too much of a gamble, it's not as if barca aren't their brilliant selves without him

Klopp has been where Bobby is now failure in Europe, 2yrs on the bounce. As a senior Dortmund guy said to us, the players wanted Klopp to stay, fans split, look now he is teflon and Bayern fear BVB for them lucky to still have him.

How so many people failed to read the first sentance of the main post is beyond me, this is not a Mancini out thread. Just a lighthearted discussion on the difference between pep and Mou.

I think and hope Mancini does well and stays, but IF he is sacked or leaves (lets be honest he prob. Would be gone if aguero missed vs qpr) it is an interesting discussion on who we would want in.

I think a good point was raised earlier in the thread saying that since there is no obvious alternative maybe what we have is just as good:-)

About 10 or 12 million a year maybe, and of course the massive resources to gain success for his ego.

thats why I say we need to see where he ends up at the end of the season - he certainly hasn't been a failure in europe do far this season, finishing comfortable top of the toughest group

as I say, 3 domestic titles on the bounce and a champs league trophy would stand him in better stead
