Away Form

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

This, you will be pleased to note will be my last post on the issue. If any of you wish to wallow in your own trough of despair, then feel free to do so. I on the other hand will take it as it comes, unless it spirals (a la Mercer) downwards out of control and squeeze every last drop of enjoyment out of our present situation.

All teams have good days and bad days, good runs of form and bad runs of form. All managers fuck up one day and become genii (geniuses?) the next. It's the nature of football and it will never change. The team and manager who have the most good days, runs etc, usually wins the League and becomes Champions. I don't know why it happens, its the way it works and it just does. Luck and ref's decisions have an input an in the final outcome, you get what you get.

For over 30 years City fans could only dream and hate. Hate the position we found ourselves in and hate the successes and arrogance of the rags who shoved it down our throats. We dreamed that one day competing at the top could be us. Those big mega games that made fans globally switch on would feature City, but City v Macclesfield ain't a global draw.
What did we dream may happen when/if we ever got their? How would we feel about being able to play on the same pitch as Madrid, Juve, Bayern? It would be great. How would we feel when we had managed to trawl through 2 divisions and " promotions and overtaken some of the World's biggest teams like the rags, Arsenal and Liverpool? It would be fantastic almost beyond reality.

Now were there, the place we dreamed of and I read a constant conveyor of negative unhappy depressing shite. Suddenly the food on offer at the very top table is not to some peoples liking. How very sad.

I am enjoying every minute of it. Winning the Cup. winning the League, sitting all those points above some of the World's biggest teams. within touching distance of the rags, having the best defence and goal difference, taking the piss out of the rags.
I'll accept the odd bad day, the odd fuck up. FUCKIN DREAMLAND....the rest of you can cry in your beer.

You can check each individual slice of the cake and count the currants if you like...I am sitting back and enjoying the whole cake.
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT

I should point out John that we won three trophies in the two seasons after the title with Mercer.
And nobody could ever accuse Malcolm of not being brave to get the best from his players.
And that is my gripe with Mancini.
I believe he holds us back.
And this 'blip' in form away from home has gone on for twelve months. Hmmm.

Ah yes, about that. You got those stats yet, chief? Winning more than you lose away from home was, let me see, "average at best", I believe you said.

piccs.... i am with you son.... best squad in city's history are under performing... that's not being greedy...

in fact, i am more pissed off with some of the recent performances than anything i witnessed in the mid/late 90s because most of the lads then really were fucking shite. the 70 odd minutes after we went 1 up in amsterdam were fucking embarassing

yaya, aguero, silva, tevez et al are fucking brilliant but we only get to see glimpses of their the brilliance. is it their fault?

I don't understand what last season, or Joe Mercer has got to do with us drawing & being boring as fuck v West Ham & Everton.

Because last season finished as an all time high & Joe Mercer was great, I'm supposed to enjoy getting fucked up by Ajax & Dortmund ?

Well I didn't. If we beat Utd tomorrow, I will love it.

If we lose however, anybody I see smiling and whistling zippidy fucking doodah on the way out is either a rag or has something wrong with them.

There are a few posters on here that I normally always agree with - but I am firmly with John on this.

When sat in Schipol airport on the way back from that poor 2nd half against Ajax my wife (who knows fuck all about football) mentioned that I must be really depressed – going all that way etc....... My answer was FFS it was not all that long ago I was driving up to Preston and back (I live in the South) to see us get easily beat – these days it is a fucking dreamland – whatever the outcome.

Maybe it is an age thing, but I am one of those that have been through the decades and there is no way I am going to waste one fucking second of enjoying the fortunate position we are in by indulging myself in some ‘wallowing’ when it does not always go right – perhaps those that want it all and want it now are of a different generation.

I know people can say about all the money etc - but look at how much Hughes spunked (including at QPR) - look at Sunderland and others down the years - fuck me look at that twat at the swamp whose waste on a large number of transfers never gets mentioned. Mancini has delivered - and I suspect will do so again this season.

I mean no criticism of anyone – do your own thing – but what can people enjoy in life if they cannot enjoy this wonderful ride?

On an associated point – sack Mancini? I was against the Hughes sacking because I wanted stability at last – thank fuck the owners knew better. But sack the manager that has given me a number of the happiest days out in my life because we are 2nd – and likely to retain our title?

And whom to swap him for? That Jose twat. Fuck me I would rather almost anyone else – with him it would be all about his self-aggrandisement CITY would just be his (and the media cunts) vehicle for hype

Pep? – seems a great bloke and seems to have real character and morals – cannot argue with accomplidments – but just why would he be any more certain to be successful in the PL than Mancini? – does not really make sense. Mancini has proved he can adapt to the PL – why swap certainty for uncertainty.

Anyway – whatever Khaldoon says is fine for me – that guy is top draw and I will back his judgement and meanwhile just enjoy every CITY match

I was traveling yesterday from India back home to florida. I saw city kits at the Delhi and Chicago airports. Zero rag kits.

We are massive.

City 2 -0 over the scum tomorrow.

Will everyone give each other handies if we do that? Ill be like the GI Joe with the Kung-fu grip.

Let's see how Mancini plays this season out. I'm torn on his tinkering but we are the best defense in the league, have a fortress at the Ethihad, and have some of the most creative attacking players in the world. Should we destroy everyone every match? In FiFA 2013 yea but we actually have to play the matches. Such a travesty.

Roll on derby. Please.

I wasn't depressed going home from Ajax either. We had a splendid time interrupted only by a shocking display. Similarly at Dusseldorf Airport on Wednesday evening I wasn't depressed, as we had another fabulous trip, err interrupted by a crap football game again.
What does depress me is that I knew that we wouldn't get a single point away from home in Europe because Mancini sets us up to fail. I expect better than that. And I don't think that is unreasonable.
The fortress at home is maybe not that secure. This season Arsenal, Everton, Madrid, Dortmund, Ajax and Villa have all left without losing. And they were all better than us for significant spells in the games.

And Doombag, I aint arsed about Socrates jibes, I know that my last two hundred posts haven't been filled with as much crap as hers.

I don't think you are the only one who is wants to see us perform to our potential, everybody at City want the same I'd suggest. It is not just Bob's efforts, it's mutual for me throughout the squad as well. We've seen lacklustre performances from many of our players and even if one is off the ball it affects the whole team.

Injuries and form have taken the sheen off the start to the season but we are still in the hunt, that is a statement to how we've ground out results rather than run away with them.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".
