We are not public company anymore and therefore don't have to release such figures.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I thought we would still have to post our financial results with companies house as we have done in previous seasons - in the same way other club with foreign ownerships have done such as Aston Villa, Liverpool, Chelsea etc.

I presume that the FA, Prem and UEFA have a right to see the figures

The accounts have to be submitted to Companies House and are a public document for all to see, if you have access to the correct channels.

The operating company, Manchester City Football Club Limited, didn't sign off it's 2011 accounts until February 2012 and haven't submitted the 31 May 2012 accounts to Companies House yet. I'm sure that when they do it will be all over the press.

Last years they were released in November. They are going to be a very interesting read and we'll probably be able to glean what the club's policy to the FFP is.

The 2011 accounts were in early, as others have mentioned. Once lodged at Companies House and individual can buy and download a copy for £1, you do have to register but is a simple process.

Not sure if any of our resident accountants and financiers have had a chance to study the figures but I am surprised that nobody has posted much on it. The media seem to have pretty much accepted the figures at face value and got on with Mario bashing and attacking City in other areas...surprise surprise..I thought that they would have swarmed all over this to pick the bits out. Jon, Sparty, Ant etc...where are you when we need you?

I'm not an accountant but I'll have go in the hope that someone picks the baton up and does a proper job.

Two things come to mind, 1)...Whether the FFPR come into being or not, and considering the statement made by the City Lawyer(?), City seem to have accepted they will and have acted where possible to move a tad closer to compliance. 2)...Though on the face of it the figures are a massive improvement, on closer inspection, maybe not quite as good as City would have us believe.

INCOME
Matchday income has risen by £2.1M but is still (understandably) around £80m behind the rags and the other major European clubs we are seeking onfield parity with. The proposed ground expansion will help but as(if) demand rises, I expect ticket prices will be increased.
Media income has risen, mainly due to our European runs in the CL and Europa league and also being Champions. The Sky deal will help us in the future but we will also lose some of that European income.
Commercial income has seen a massive and dramatic increase from £64.7M to £121.1M. But before we start jumping up and down with joy, we have to bear in mind that £40M of that increase is due solely to the Etihad campus deal and will have to pass the UeFA test. Some of that may possibly be written off.
On the subject of commercial income, though Cook got plenty of plaudits for his work in this area, much of this income comes from our owner's or Abu Dhabi based national industries. Etihad, Etisalaat, Ferrostaal etc. Maybe our resident financiers could advise how successful we are at raising money in the outside World.

PROFIT AND LOSS
Superficially, the figures show our losses (after tax and interest) have fallen from £197.5M to £99.7M. Though they are the actual figures, last years figures included £34.4M exceptional items which increased the loss. the real loss for FFPR purposes (including FFPR exclusions) was actually a lower £142M. This years figures also show income of £12.8M from a "Sale of Rights" from City to our owners. What this item is, remains undisclosed and we can consider this a one off item.

All things considered, although our figures show a massive improvement of £99.7M, the real improvement trend should be considered around only £50M.

Having lit the fire, I would hope that our money men will chuck a few logs on and advise us better than I can.

Sir John,
as You know I don't share the same excitement at the FFP issue, while I pay the utmost respect for the over-concerns that still live in the mind of several through and through Blues like You and 1632.
I also must confess that, despite intentions, I read the released FS with less accuracy than it commands: in all honesty my greed interest faded since reading the highlights reporting halved losses: that all it takes to stop em preaching and they are already aware, despite whatsoever show may appear on the media!

On general consideration I largely agree with Your analysis above, apart what I consider a important, probably mislead, under-estimation of the source of incomes: point is "it doesn't matter where turnover comes from".
Don't get me wrong, I know where You are coming from: self-sustainability.
But imho, You miss to points on such consideration:
1) Like or loath it, professional football is no longer a sporting affair - as we all loved it was when Clubs used to compete only by strenghts (Accademies) and wealth (Gates and Matchdays income) generated across themselves - but an industry no different to any other. So back to "it doesn't matter where turnover comes from", if in the short/mid term further injections of "friendly sponsorships" will be needed, they shall, naturally, come. If You consider that roughly 1/4 maybe 1/3 of the global financial streams flowing to Wall Street and Paternoster Square are supposed to come from washing Incomes related to Organized Crime and that Any Government can do pretty fuck all to it, how the bloody hell can You expect that a bunch of G14 accountants/lawyers could prove void an Ethiad Campus Sponsorship? Furthermore, aside companies directly controlled by ADUG, can You imagine how many Companies who share interests and mutual business with Them would be more than pleased to offer their friendly fronting for just a "clearing sponsorship entry". we can continue almost endlessly....
2) when ADUG took over, They were perfectly aware that MCFC, different to Rags, is People Club first and foremost and Their statements have always confirmed that awareness from day one. Accordingly, given the mission They have given to the Club (become a Massive Promotional Sounding Board of Abu Dhabi) and taking into account what level of overall turnover might be expected from a Club in general and a People Club in particular, You can rest assured that They did plan about achieving "self- sustainability" in the mid to long term of the business plan. Sure as hell, even when the stadium will be increased in capacity and certain stands will be offered to so called tourists to more market oriented prices, a significant part of it will be always reserved to Long Lasting Loyal Fans at preferential fees, but and even then, the impact of matchdays revenue shall never be, even remotely, comparable to Media Rights, Sponsorships and Merchandising. And that is also why, as mentioned in several discussions, the presumed inner fight amongst Mancini's greediness for immediate success and Those who are supposed to want resources much more focussed on The Academy is a false/fake/myopic argument. Success, and twice the more CL and WC success sells Media Rights, Sponsorships and Merchandising and Khaldoon is perfectly aware of it, even before complying with FFPR become a stricter issue. That's why Mancini demand of players have always been backed, that's why the removal of the incompetent was so important and that why he has been removed and replaced with the very best.

Self-Sustainability through Open Market Sponsorships and massive reduction of players acquisition fees though a Leading Academy shall come in economical reasonable time: meanwhile the chosen acceleration of the process will be backed with every technicalities available and G14 might not do nothing against.
If I am right, and I think I am, next summer City will go all out to FINALLY get a shade of Yaya and a Shade of Dave, which in turn will mean, much and much more trouble to opposition managers to try and suss our game out. From there, it will arrive a long CL run and in turn remarkable further increase on foreign TV rights, more and more Asians and Americans would be desperate to wear a City kit and in a couple of more years the value of the Ethiad Sponsorship shall become a bargain on the sponsorships' open market.
A couple of years later, City Academy shall start to deliver self produced David Silva and Kun Aguero, while for a self-produced Messi will always take a miracle.

We made a lot more money, we spent a little less.

UEFA can clearly show that we're moving quickly in the right direction, therefore FFP is working. The biggest story here is that there isn't an interesting story.

Hahahaha...That wasn't an answer Roger mate...:-) That was a sweet sidestepping dancing move...:-) The Last Tango In Roma ?

The PL going forward with the support of 17 clubs. They only need the support of 14.
Those opposing are three. We would need another three to get our way.

Rome had to be rebuilt several times over the years mate.
