Baring that in mind, I used to love going to Leeds in the 70's.

Does that make me strange ?

I also used to like West Brom, as we got our own end & made it much better than theirs (or Utd/Liverpoool's for that matter).

The fancy dress/inflatables trip to Stoke is my all time favourite though. Don't think we will ever see anything like that, on that scale, from City fans ever again. Posnan ? Aris ? You're avin a larf.. no comparison.

Leeds in the 70s, 80's Ted, you would have had to have been the quickest drinker in the West, fuck me the old Dunlop Green flash came in handy back then, that underpass was like British Bulldog but against the Barbarians and the Vikings.

Only been to 10-12 away matches, if that, but this is the one I really want to do.

that were a lovely trip.

for me, for various reasons, it has to be the villa away on a sunday night when micah richards scored the equaliser in an fa cup match. no idea what year. my drivers door window got broken on the m60 on the way there, but we thought we'd go anyway. brilliant atmosphere, great cliffhanging ending and then i ended up wearing my missus' handbag on my head on the way home to keep out the frost. and when micah scored everyone went mental, and this lad said to me "i've just grabbed your missus' boob by accident, soz mate" and i was happy for him.

Best was pre-season friendly v doncaster. Banter was brilliant, the city end was full and it was memorable mainly for laugh at the expense of the donny team who lost all their warm up balls cause the city fans kept throwing them over the back of the stand.

West brom was interesting after getting ejected from the stadium in the 80's for making a wanking hand gesture to Andy Gray when he missed a sitter. I got took below the stand and warned not to re-enter the ground or i would be arrested as the gates had opened with 10 mins left. I of course legged it back in to see us equalise 1-1.

Worst ground was ayresome park. Biggest shithole i have ever known. Never been back to boro since. Horrible people.

A few memorable ones stand out for me during the 80s early 90s for "other reasons!" .....

Blackpool in the FA cup when we lost , there was a riot and the roof of one stand literally came off ! I was stood on the spion kop and was hit on the head by a large coin which turned out to be a Charles / Diana wedding momento thingy ? I kept it of course , its at my mams somewhere !

Leeds away ...... got bricked from a motorway bridge next to the ground.

Wolverhampton night match away ...... Tommy Docherty was manager of Wolves then , we got chased right through the city center had to run for our lives somehow found the train station just in time ........ the train back to Manchester got bricked just outside the station ......

Birmingham away ...... Zulu, s found us ...... we ran ! :)

Coventry City away ...... all the lads decided to travel via minibus for this one after a few seasons of train grief ! We all had plenty of alchohol on the way down , the minibus parked in a away fans car park near the ground ....... we all got off the minibus for a quick slash and all of us were promptly arrested by a load of fascist west midland thugs ! Missed nowt , we lost 4-0 !

On a happier note , last seasons away fixture at Blackburn was a fantastic day out , minibused it there with all the lads and my 16 year old lad was making his away day debut , arrived at the hotel / pub at the darwin end at 11am there must have been already a thousand blues there drinking in the hot autumn sun, it was the match after the Munich away shambles in the CL , everyone got behind bobby manc ...... we won 4-0 , awesome day !

That Blackburn trip....great day - I must have been following a similar itinerary. It was made even better for me to see the support for Bob – is my memory right that it was the first game after the Tevez incident in Munich?

Made all the better for me as I had a decent bet on CITY to score 4 goals or more – and that was the one time I have cheered Savic when he headed in from a corner near the death!!

Blackburn away under Royle when we won promotion.

City fans everywhere from motorway to the ground. A complete end for us and about half the rest of the ground were City fans who kept revealing themselves when they realised everyone else was a City can too.

Fans on the hill, only being able to watch half of the game.

Blackburn hitting the post about 4 times and taking the lead whilst Ipswich were winning.

We were in the top tier and at the end of the game had to go out of the ground to get back in at ground level to get on the pitch to celebrate.

Thats the one mate , all the tevez stuff. I actually wore my lucky white with a red & black diagonal away top with Tevez 32 on the back , i got berated all day big time lol . Our season could have gone either way that day , 8,000 City fans were loud and proud and 2nd half the team were magnificent ....... oh and the pub / hotel got drunk dry ! :)

Maine Road - your new place is not a patch. Same with Highbury and the Emirates.

Carrow & Portman Road - a jaunt up the A12 - always likely we'll be in every stand and, although there's a rivalry, its generally friendly.

White Hart Lane is the last old school ground in London worth visiting - us aside. I can see the charm in Craven Cottage, but its a bit sad that they need a neutrals section (that incidentally I've been in with City).

Fratton Park is a creaking old flea-pit, but there's something about the atmosphere inside the away end once the chants start going up. Similar point to make about Selhurst Park. I've been in the Arthur Waite stand several times as a proxy-Blue with my mate. Once your lot won and then, as people were filing out, it came out across the tannoy that West Ham had won at Old Trafford. Nice big cheer went up...

Anfield is like visiting Beirut. Must be a crack house or two on each of the streets leading to the ground. Horrible place.
