Arsenal v West Ham Postponed

Postby Beefymcfc » Wed Dec 19, 2012 3:45 pm

Is it just me who thinks this is a piss-take and that it's been allowed to be cancelled? I heard on the radio that this happened last year as well.

The Xmas period is always a slog for the players when they've got 4 games in 10 days so why are these fuckers allowed to get a break from playing, and Christmas off? Fulham are playing that day, so are QPR, with which all 4 teams supporters will probably have used the tube if they weren't on strike yet they are not looking for Boxing Day off.

Seems very strange that the FA/League would allow this. I wonder if we'll get the same treatment when the trams go down?

Edit: For accuracy, you dumb fuck!

I think they said it's about 14 miles by road. If that's the distance, what's the problem? It's not as if it's a busy afternoon trying to get in or out of town, it's Boxing Day when everyone else will be getting over their Christmas Lunch.

It is a total farce that gives them fresh momentum going into the New Year. Another nail in the FA favouritsm agenda for me. I bet they'll play it when they are both out of the FA Cup, a nice free weekend giving them time to rest.

Arsenal's West Ham game called off over Underground strike

Arsenal's Premier League match against West Ham on Boxing Day has been called off because of possible industrial action on the London Underground.

The Tube network's drivers may strike over pay on 26 December.

Arsenal said: "We apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused supporters but we feel that the right decision has been made."

Top-flight fixtures at London sides QPR and Fulham are set to go ahead.

The Gunners were concerned about the "difficulties of getting 60,000 supporters, plus matchday staff and employees to the stadium safely in the event of disruption to public transport on a public holiday"

Arsenal officials spoke to police, Transport for London, London Underground, The Premier League, West Ham United FC and Islington Council before making the decision.

Last season, the Gunners moved their Boxing Day game with Wolves back a day because of industrial action.

The West Ham match will be staged on Wednesday, 23 January or Saturday 26 January (FA Cup 4th Round).

Thanks, Yoda.

Young their players they are. I understood it ;-)

Arsene actually said that they are building the team around their young British players. Clever is the wise professor, I wonder how much time, buy him that will?
