like the title says . has supporting city ruined your relationships.

its ruined 3 of mine but city always come 1 st

no1 me and x got together when i was 19 .i was already a season ticket holder she couldnt understand it but i converted her ( and she still goes to city these days ) we bought a house tryed the happy couple thing but i was always on piss at weekened s home and away watching city .. so that one went pear shaped .
no 2 . she had no interest in footy ( again i was always on piss at weekends at city ) but she had my kid ( who is city mad )
n03 again no interest in city ( all her family were rags ) yes it ended years ago


so these days on my jack jones but city always comes 1 st and on the plus side my lad ( see no 2 ) lives with me and we go all over country watchin city . and i would not have it any other way .

Since then we went to Wembley to see Dickov score the most important goal in the club's history, got married at Maine Road, travelled to our first European away game together, flew back from holiday so we could attend the FA Cup final and then cried together when Aguero scored that goal.

not sure about ruined but certainly strained a lot of relationships.

used to go out with a girl who was a season ticket holder at the swamp. it was paid for by her old man, i was just a stupid kid at the time, but he should have known better. he always saw me as some cocky little Citeh upstart defiling his daughter. I saw him as the moustache wearing, tory loving, rag cunt that he was. a combination of too much beer and a big mouth to begin with saw him grabbing me by the throat one night and just like that a 3 year relationship was up in smoke.

a combination of a bad city result and too much beer, one usually follows the other, makes me a difficult individual to be around at times. i've fallen out with people over it and ended friendships. The last 6 weeks of last season made my local a very difficult place to go. Actually through no fault of my own, just being a blue in an 'irish' pub means I have a target on my back with some wannabe mibs

I am envious, I truly am. At the same time not so much, because I like that the time i spend supporting City is MY time, but I am more jealous than I am not. The thing is I think I could have turned me wife but then the Sheik came and my wife was turned off by the entire thing. I can understand her I suppose, there's definitely is too much money in the game as it is, but I was hooked before that so I couldn't get out, so to speak.

OT... It used to have a negative effect on my relationship. I'm quite moody and a loss or draw could turn my mood sour for several days. My wife confronted me on the matter and since then I've had to take a much more buddhist approach to the entire thing. I allow myself one, two hours tops to feel angry and bitter, then I move on. You can't win them all and if we did, I'd probably stop caring. That mentality is a hell of a lot easier to maintain nowadays because we win so many games though...

I too am one of the lucky ones

I've been with the other half six years now, she is as big a blue as I am. We both come from massive blue families both (which is a blessing in itself) have had season tickets since (the old) second division both went to Wembley in said campaign and now have a seasons tickets together in the family stand as we bring through the next generation of fan in the form of my 2 years and 10 week old sons

My mrs is a red from a massive red family, she understands how important football is to me and she uses the time to do shopping / cleaning / cooking etc with me out of the way.

I have only ever been in serious trouble once because of football, about 4 years ago I went to the Derby instead of a Christening.... Seriously, who plans a christening on Derby Day? I think she was more bothered because I chose to go to the Derby instead of be a Godfather?

I'm a lucky bar steward too. Mine is from a family of blues, although she was converted growing up and ended up 'supporting' Liverpool as her big brother decided to rebel and go off glory hunting in the 70's/80's. She didn't really care about football, so it was more in support of her brother's passion than anything else.

Got together 8 years ago and I managed to bring her back into the fold. Was tough at first as she wasn't really into it and that home run under Pearse didn't help! Fully converted now and strikes up City conversations as frequently as I do, luckily we agree on most things too. I still get moody and pissed off if things aren't right, far more than she does, but she leaves me to it and I adopt a similar Buddhist mentality as mentioned above. And yes, the winning helps with that!

I know she's into it now as watching Norwich she turned to me and said, 'I hate you for getting me into City, my nerves are all over the bloody place watching this'. Welcome to my world love, welcome ;-)

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that. I honestly don't know how people have Utd fans as partners. The very thought blows my mind!

Remember seeing a couple with a toddler at the airport. He had a rags top, her blues, toddler rags. I remember wondering how the fuck they got together, as I just couldn't imagine it.

Anyway, she then nipped off to the toilets and the toddler came back in a City top and they all had a good laugh.

It might be funny then, but that's all sorts of fucked up for that kid!

Nope. I have City and this site to thank for my relationship :). Me and Andy (MaineRoadMemories) have been together nearly 4 years now. We travel to games together but I sit with my family in the family stand and he sits in the south stand. We meet back up after the game and go home together. So yeah, cheers for being around 4 years ago mcf.net ;)
