Mario Ballotelli

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

As I say, I think Mario has done ok when he's played but IF this ridiculous behaviour from both of them is all to end up being justified, Mario has to end up at the same level as Ronaldo or Messi, otherwise, if he's only going to achieve the same level as any other decent player we could have signed, exactly what has been the point of it all ?

All played down by mancini and i cannot believe from a ten second or so bust up that the press have created all the spin and Shit to try destabilise us (well i can believe it, its expected).

In true city style he will start the game tomorrow and probably bag himself a hat trick.

Let's face it Balotelli has been a complete liability this season. I can put up with some of the nonsense and off the field stories as long as he is giving 110% and performing on the pitch on a reasonably consistent basis but that has been nowhere near the case this season.

As for Mancini's press conference, as someone has said, he was hardly going to come out all guns blazing and lambast Balotelli was he. The best thing to do in front of the press was damage limitation and calm it down which he did. As for giving Balotelli more chances i'm sceptical as to whether he actually believes that and is going to do that. I think Mancini's patience has run out with him and if we have the opportunity to sell him in this transfer window, we will take it.

Interestingly, Pato was sold by Milan to Corinthians last night. There are also rumours Robinho will be sold - is this generating funds for them to sign Balotelli? Seems to suggest that at the very least they will be signing another centre forward in this window.

I would absolutely love it if he did, just for the media value and entertainment. It would also be interesting to see how the press would try to twist it. 'but it was a negative hat trick wasn't it?' .typical Mario, always has to be in the centre of attention'.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp said he thought Balotelli's problems with Mancini and Jose Mourinho, who managed the forward at Inter Milan, pointed to an individual who needed to change his ways.
"It can't be easy to deal with him," said Redknapp. "It must be difficult for Roberto to deal with him. You only have to see the way he is.
"If Mourinho has a problem with him and can't handle him, he's got to be difficult hasn't he? The boy's a good player but obviously there is a problem there somewhere with his attitude.
"I think the only person that could help him is himself."

Before adding "he was a player that I tried to sign whilst at Spurs" ...

Like it or loath it, the lesser for me too, Mancini for some reason adopted the psyco-lad since the Inter age and he's obviouly not applying the same detached coolness he features on regular professional relationship. He acts towards mario as he would with that waste of space and kit which strolls about the EDS.
Right/ wrong: having not lived it on it's hard to assess, but I think all the other Lads have well and clearly understood that it's more than a undeserved bias/preference underneath.

I said the day before Mario signed for City that that was the worst move ever made by Bob in his managerial career, but on the other hand what make him such a remarkable person is that he is not scared to bet on his opinions and feelings, rather than playing a marketing oriented approach to his career as Mourinho or Redknapp do.

i didn't think he was that poor against United. Whether what he was doing what Mancini wanted or not, i feel the universal criticism of him vs the Rags wasn't the same fucking match i watched.

cheers

Ballotelli's like a player you have in Football manager who you know has got a potential ability of -2 (cos you've cheated and looked). You know that he HAS to become good sometime, but doesn't seem to be doing so. You can never sell him because you're petrified he'll develop elsewhere.

But what the fuck is it that Mancini is teaching Mario ? Ok, imo he has got more workrate & discipline out of him, so...what ? Is he suddenly ripping up the Prem ? Other than 'run about more & don't get sent off' what is he teaching Mario to do that is improving him & what is he moaning about ? I agree with Doomie; the game some fans & Mancini saw is not the same game I saw Mario play v rags. I didn't see anything worse in his game than I see regularly from Aguero or Dzeko, in fact I saw some stuff I thought was better, but what does Mancini expect to see ?

If Mario had played the exact game he played v rags & City had played the game they played v Stoke, Mario would have fit in perfectly. He was trying to do that; quick movement, layoffs, one twos. What is it that Bob wanted ?

I see in Mario, a player who has the same natural power in his legs as Ronaldo & Beckham. If Mancini is so keen to turn him into a great player, why doesn't he spend an extra hour with him every day, having him practicing free kicks & crosses ?

It all seems a load of weird, mentally unbalanced, badly managed, bollocks to me.

I am not arguing. I mainly agree . Mario is a totally fucked up mind. He's been most possibly emotionally savaged along his boyhood.
IF I was the MCFC manager, particularly at the time of Balo purchase and at that City of the time, the VERY LAST player I'd have got would have been Mario.
Even now, my perceived blend of Mario worthiness to the Club is 90% marketing and 10% Top footballing perspective.

I was just trying to highlight why this weird and, almost dangerous relationship, from mancini's career and Team respect point of view, is going on. I genuinely bellieve that Mancini saw something in the Mad Geezer, at Inter time, which moved a bit of his fatherhood sensitivity, if You can get my poor use of english.

Either way, we still have the same issue. How much crap can we keep putting up with from Balo and when will Mancini finally accept he can't change Balo?
There is no doubt that he has the attributes to be very good or indeed better. But without the correct attitude on the pitch and in training, potential will become a 'what could have been'.
Perhaps Mancini does need to set up an individual plan for him so he realises his development, but these negative incidents can't keep happening as they are very embarrassing to the club, the players and us.

100% agree. If Yaya and Ibrahimovic have trained with him daily and see him as a future great, than I believe too. You hardly ever see 2 of the top 10 players in the world praise the ability of a young player within a month of each other. And when they do you should listen.
