What fee would we get for Balo?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Oh dear Oh Dear.
What is it with this, you MUST post something positive about City and all our players?

It is the majority view that he should be moved on if possible. Therefore it isn't unreasonable to discuss what sort of fee we might receive for him.
For what its worth, I think he will be staying as no other club will stump up. Hey and he might even get it together for us in his time at City and that would be great.

Lee, posts like yours are the really stupid ones, and I do believe you are a right turd.

I'm pretty sure theres already a Mario thread you could have added to. Its like starting a new thread every five minutes.. 'Do you think he'll ever score for us again' 'Will he ever play for us again' etc.. Its just pointless drivel that nobody actually has an answer to. Its not even constructive its just bollox mate. I just find it annoying that you seem to think everyone wants to get rid and that bollox too.. I reckon most fans would like to see him to rise to his potential but I'm not going to start a new thread asking 'Will Mario ever justify his hair do' ffs. I'll admit I was in a bad mood this morning so reacted to your post negitively but I still dont see the point in it.

Well Lee, you got one thing right, most fans would like to see him rise to his potential. Well done for stating the bleeding obvious.
Now if you can manage to understand simple sentences, just read all the stuff that people are saying in their comments. It is not unreasonable to suggest that the majority have lost faith and patience with him.
And yes, I could have added to another thread, but I felt like raising a different aspect of the Mario saga, which is particularly relevant given that the transfer window has just opened. If we take your whining, "there is already a thread about Mario so you can't start a new one" to it's logical conclusion we should just have one big thread entitled "City".
Oh and do you think Mario will ever justify his hair do? And more importantly, how will he achieve that exactly.
It seems you love Mario so much that it makes you talk like a twat, when others dare to question him, quite legitimately.

TBH, I feel quite a lot of sympathy for Mario. He must be a very confused young man. Since the moment he arrived, he has been targeted by the media and defined as an idiot. Different maybe, eccentric probably but he' has been battered by our media in a relentless campaign to make him look stupid. He has been subjected to the full gamut of lies and sensational shite usually reserved for criminals. He has been an easy target and now the media has set him up, they are content to knock him over.

The "Why always me" t shirt may have been amusing to some but think on...In reality it was a cry for help from a lonely confused kid. "Why always him?" What has he done so wrong to be so vilified by the media?

Personally, I would sell him for his own protection. To get him away from the rancid rag media and get him some normality.

I'd agree with most of that John. In fact you neglected to mention that it is doubly difficult because as well as the media, he has been targeted by referees. He gets decisions against him that no other player does.

Are twenty or thirty people moaning on a couple of forum threads a majority, or a large enough representative sample to claim you've got a majority view? I don't think so. I don't even think this whole site is a big enough cross-section of City fans to claim you've got a majority opinion.

Well to be honest, this site is possibly the most tolerant arena I discuss City in. At the game, it is usually, in my experience, more inclined to drastic measures. But this is certainly not the only place I discuss City, and I would be prepared to suggest that the vast majority of us will chat at work, in the pub, read other comments in different media and canvass our City supporting friends opinions.
And I'm pretty confident that there are damn sight more than thirty or forty blokes who have tired of Mario. It is the majority. It really isn't an unfair nor controversial statement.

Having been away and read the Pep story twice, Balo, will be in last chance saloon. I also think as Piccs as suggested this is a a great place to discuss our club, we need Txiki Begiristain to be able to focus on the future and not a daily load of Balo shite. For me get Guardiola now after reading the book.If the scum get him we are fooked with or witthout FFP. He is along with Txiki the men who could deliver the results to have us blow the ragsaway. Bergistain was a great player for Barca he knows his way around world football better than most and understands what we need from youth to 1st team. Great read and what I want to see at City, great standards and football played the right way with no distractions. Oh without spoling it any thoughts Pep G had an easy seat to jump into think again he has worked wonders from B team to 4 yrs of winning.

Piccs,
To be fair Mate, no matter how much or how in depth we discuss Mario, none of us know him and we are all majorly reliant on the reports of a media circus that seem to have him as their chosen idiot target.
We know many of the reports are garbage and many are lies, made up to suit the media agenda.

Like you Mate, I discuss City with many people from all over the place, most think he's a nutter. When I ask them to be specific and tell me what he has actually done to make them form that opinion of him, the vast majority are pretty clueless. He is a nutter but most either don't know why or quote some of the more outlandish stories that have appeared and we know aren't true.

Despite what the media report or what we as fans think, the club seem to support him and he seems to be accepted within the playing squad. They would seem to be a better indicator of the truth.

You're right that there's this.... belief that he's just an idiot. A belief that often lacks foundation... but on the other hand, he knew he had those rumours when he came here and he had the perfect opportunity to lay low and treat his history at Inter as a closed chapter. He didn't though. Likewise with the cards. It was pretty clear for anyone that he stood a good chance of becoming an unpopular player amongst the referees but he kept on with his sometimes malicious tackles and shouting at the referees... and now he's where he's at in the eyes of the English referees.

I mean, ok... he's being judged by different standards than many other players, but part of that is his own blame for not making a clean break with his behaviour at Inter. The football world is pretty easy to sway and prone to prejudism. Deal with it or move on.

I wanna keep him and I want to support him, why can't he just keep low for a while? Can you pick him up and talk some sense into him?

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

i thought Mario had his head screwed on really tightly yesterday. when he came on he played well and made one pass to the left that was just out of this world, belying the crap that is written about him.

Each player in the squad must deliver. Mario too, but I defy anyone of the smartasses that come on here and critise the players to simply think what these guys have to go through in a different country, different language, is as easy as it is for you and i , johnny manc.

Edin has been criticised when he starts games and doesn't get a look in.
Van Arse apparently scored a wondergoal yesterday when he came on and all the whu defenders were tired, a wonderful through ball.
I saw the goal in the pub and thought it was bad defending by whu !

Well it depends on your perspective doesn't it ?

This morning i saw a similar goal , i think it was qpr , can't exactly remember but it was on the left and just as good as rip van arses.Long throughball or Punt, just like uniteds.
Didn't get any applauds though.

Someone posted the sunday suppository from today too and all their verbal dairrhea. Again useless pricks trying to make a buck out of having a go at Mario.

These guys, (the players), know what they are doing, it doesn't always work to plan.

How can you explain a yellow card for Garcia yesterday ? the dick of a ref has zero tolerence for City....Zabbas joke yellow too !

Week in week out we have to live with this shit, mario and roberto fall out and it gets more press worldwide than the president of the USA..(perhaps it should !)

Just a quick question about a sentence in your last paragraph.
Do you think his team mates accept him or just tolerate him because they are professionals?
My reason for asking is, I have never been to watch them train like the great Mr DH nor do I know any of the players so I can't claim to know them, but a couple of incidents bug me like the Christmas video where Tevez and Balo are wrapping presents, Tevez loses his patience and confirms that everyone thinks he's an idiot. Plus, kompany on A league of their own stated that Balo just ignores his instructions.
If these are things players are willing to say on tv/video, what do they really think/say when they are not in front if the media!
I know this is pessimistic before any rants starts, but it's just a question with some examples.

Risby,
The best and most honest answer I can give you is I truly don't know mate....and that's the whole point. What I do see is the interaction between him and the other players on the various videos. I understand that those put out by the club also have an agenda (as does the media) but the interaction does seem natural and relaxed.

Cocacolajojo,
On the face of it, that point is very valid. but maybe playing devils advocate to it...I don't follow European football that closely, my knowledge is quite poor and I'm highly dependent on what I learn from here or the media. The point I'm making is that when we signed Mario, I didn't really have much clue who he was....I soon learned. Before he'd kicked a ball in anger, I was informed he was trouble, an idiot child who was off his head....and I'd not seen him nor had any chance to judge for myself.

I have always believed that the media has an anti City agenda and when we signed Mario, they must have thought Xmas, Easter, Eid and all their birthdays had arrived together. A heaven sent opportunity to take a vulnerable young kid who's a bit different and eccentric and use him to beat the living daylights out of City.

I genuinely don't know which came 1st...chicken/egg...media campaign/Mario.

THIS.
and that's why I kept saying that, at least from an outside Club's fences point of You, that signing is the worst purchase that Mancini has done or might do in 10 managerial lives.... from his career perspective.

perhaps, if I had had the opportunity to look inside that fences, at that time, I could have heard some preliminary evaluations discussed and agreed among Bob, Khaldoon and HRH and I'd have a different opinion.

Bluemoon, John68 argued passionately about the value of keeping Hughes.Does that mean we shouldn't take him too seriously either? But hang on, he wants to keep Mancini. How does that work then?
Your theory has fallen down very quickly, and rather easily. It proves why nobody should take you too seriously.

I don't think anybody doubts that he has had a rough ride from the press and referees. I think I'm correct in saying that fans who have run out of patience, believe he doesn't do enough on the pitch to justify the circus that surrounds him.
Plus we all do see the odd strange moment and act of defiance/petulance from him.

I doubt it has anything to do with him being black and non English.
