GazBaz has now scored with two headers in his last two games.

All we need to do is play him up front in the centre-forward position, without the need to sign another forward.

Job done.

I can't see him leaving Barca. Seems to have a genuine affinity with the supporters, and is a valued member of the group.

If he does become available, though, i'm sure Feran and Txiki will make sure we're right at the front of the queue.

Not sure I'd pay £12m for him at the moment, but a loan till the end of the season with us paying is wages and say a £1m fee followed by a £10m purchase in summer if he proves he's over his injury and can cope with being hacked at by premier league thugs and we should be very interested.

He was always a more intelligent player than say a Torres who used his pace so I could see him managing another few years at a top level.

Too much talk regarding potential signings up front for my liking. It isn't where we need improvement in my opinion, and there's too many people with Championship Manager syndrome. When a big name becomes available we shouldn't be foolish enough to be tempted to sign him.

We have PROVEN premiership strikers, and although they aren't bagging at the moment that makes me think it's a fault elsewhere in the team, mainly in the way we get the ball to them.

Creative midfielder to help out Dave, or maybe someone with a bit more crossing ability. Apart from that...I won't be calling for any big name signings up front

I tend to agree with you Monty, in that we have enough top strikers. I disagree slightly in that they ARE getting the service, just not the goals.

But there is this mad general assumption that any big name that come in will score 5 goals a game. Aguero and Tevez - even Dzeko and Mad Mario are known as some of the games top strikers. Like Falcao, like Villa, like Torres for that matter. All going to struggle against massed defences.

That's a fair comment John. Something isn't clicking, and I just think that it's being able to change the pace/look for the quick ball/precise pass into space further than 20 yards that we're missing.

I see Balo making the intelligent runs (sometimes), and I see the ball go an obvious route and not make it to him.

I just think this it where we're lacking, in my humble opinion

It is because we dont look to attack until the opposition have regrouped.

We rarely look to take advantage of out of position midfielders and defenders. The way they get pulled out of position is quick ball after the breakdown, or someone like yaya carrying the ball. He cant carry it from his starting position just in front of pur back 4 and there is none to play a defence splitting ball early enough in the play.

Exactly...Villa wouldn't solve that problem. I think there's two camps of thinking when it comes to what's wrong...lack of creativity or quick ball....and our strikers aren't up to the job. One of these isn't true

Barcelona are 3-0 up after 25 minutes in the Copa del Rey, two scored by David Villa, while Messi is on the bench.

Who didn't want him here again?

Even messi can't do that week in week out
