Put whatever may or may not happen to one side for a moment. That is the future and none of us can tell that. The future is largely irrelevant in this debate for the moment anyway.

I warn you that this is the last time we go through this. I will write it slowly, cos I know you can't read fast...:-)
1...The FFPR is only a tiny (very tiny) part of the old G14's campaign to gain control of football's billions.
2...The FFPR is only a defensive tool being used to try and stop newly monied clubs (City) from diluting the gains the G14 elite have already made over the last 20 years.
3...There are other tools at the G14's disposal, already set up in place. The seeding for the CL, the European Coefficients (over 5 years) and the European Clubs Association.
4...The implicit threat to break away still remains and with that threat, the further threat to take with them the lucrative TV and sponsorship deals.
5...They already control UeFA by their representation on the policy committees that dictate UeFA policy and their representation on FIFA committees makes them powerful in that sphere too.
6...Their actions have ALREADY destroyed any real competitive threat from any country from outside the big 4.
7...Whatever happens with the FFPR in the future does NOT change the damage the threat of its implementation has ALREADY caused and IS causing to City and other clubs outside the old G14 group.

That should be simple enough for you to understand.

Part 2...

1...Whether the G14 elite and their FFPR are ultimately successful in the future is almost irrelevant at this time. They/it has already been successful for them, just by the mere threat of its possible implementation. This gets no coverage (why?)..
2...Because of the uncertainty (then) of how the FFPR may be implemented, City and most other clubs chose a policy of attempting to comply, thus causing conditions damaging to those clubs and favourable to the old Elite G14.
3...City completely revised its player policy.
4...City completely revised its football targets.
5...The speeded to up player investment meant that City increased pressure on City to pay highe fees and higher wages to bring targets in.
5...The speeded up player investment meant that money already spent then is NOT being spent now and though our nearest rivals strengthened during the summer, we have not. Instead of taking the opportunity to push clear of our nearest rivals. we now see a period of temporary stagnation.
5...The speeded up investment caused our expenditure to exceed our income by far more than was originally planned. Our policy to comply with the FFPR and our need to better balance our books has meant a slowing of player investment.

I could go further about how our attempts to comply with the FFPR and the consequent speeding up of investment at City has created enemies both in football and in the media. How the incessant, almost daily attacks on Moneybags City, our mercenary players, on how we are greedy, ruining football and buying success , have caused our name and brand not only to be damaged but hated in some quarters....All this can be directly attributed to the MERE THREAT OF THE FFPR.

PLEASE DON'T TELL ME THAT THE FFPR WILL FAIL...IT HAS ALREADY BEEN A HUGE SUCCESS FOR THEM AND STILL IS.

Mate, City have even took the luxury to thrash about T_H_I_R_T_Y M_I_L_L_I_O_N_S of Great Britain's Pounds on a buch of players that have no hope to add an inch on what City already had... just to praise a respected manager's success greediness and try and cover a tad of the Incompentence of the shoes seller.
I am sorry, my Lord, but I fail to see any restriction there!

Should it had been needed:
a) half a dozen of sporsorships, coming from Companies not directly linkable with ADUG or The Royal Crown, could have easily put in place, thanks to countless Companies in the will to please their established relationships with ADUG;
b) MCFC First Team payroll, could have easily halved on the books, as Carl has mentioned on the other thread. IT IS COMMON PRACTICE, not only on Top professional Football. and You don't even need Your Club to be owned by the Ruling Family of a Small Hyper-Wealth Country whereas the Rulers have little obbligation to respond to the Public Opinion.
