Do I think we press the ejector seat now, this minute? No

Do I think the chairman should start sounding out possible world class replacements? Yes

If Hughes get us back on track, Great. If not then at least we have someone in place. City are the winners either way.

I've always said Jan 2010 is the time to judge Hughes. That is still where I stand. But he has some persuading to do now, even with patient people like me. It's the "hoof and hope" football that is annoying me, and the fact that replacing Dunne and Ned with £30m worth of central defenders has taken us backwards not forwards.
I must remember to get a new signature.....

A rag mate of mine said to me about this time last year That Hughes is not the man for us , he is ok with teams like Blackburn etc . I can remember laughing at the time and saying we shall see. But now I feel he was right in what he said.

Do you think there were more than 2 long balls all game?

I am all for time and patience but it's just getting worse and eventually teams will start to pull away. We were poor today and I could not get my head around the over alboration of our play, we turned into Arsenal for a period trying to walk the ball in with Tevez being the biggest culprit.

I would love nothing more than Hughes to be the one and prove the doubters wrong but I just can't see it. I left the game gutted dissapointed and have not felt like that for a very long time. There is so much riding on Wednesday and a defeat to an Arsenal kids team could really spell the end.

AND HERES THE MANAGERS EXCUSE FOR THIS WEEKS DRAW AGAINST ANOTHER SHITTTTTTTTE TEAM.

Mark Hughes blames ‘harsh penalty’ after seventh consecutive Manchester City draw

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes admitted he was disappointed after watching his side held yet again at Eastlands.

Despite taking the lead in the match through Shaun Wright-Phillips, the Citizens had to settle for a point after Jimmy Bullard equalised from the penalty spot late on.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, the City boss admitted he was confused about the penalty award and was not sure why it had been given.

“Obviously were looking to get back to winning ways and we haven’t been able to do that,” he explained.

“We are a little bit confused about the award of penalty, we are not quite sure what the referee has given it for. I think the initial thought from everybody in the ground was that it was for a handball. Clearly it wasn’t and by all accounts the referee is now saying that it’s for a foul.

“It’s a harsh penalty from our point of view. Obviously we got into a winning position again and that’s the disappointment for us. We need to see these games out.”

Yet despite his disappointment the Citizen paid tribute to the visitors and praised their work rate in particular.

“I thought we pressed and it was difficult. Credit to Hull they work exceptionally hard and get a lot of people behind the ball and made it difficult for us,” he added.

“The referee has obviously stepped in to play a part and they get back on level terms. So we are disappointed once again.”

Despite having failed to win in the league since September, Hughes remained defiant about this side’s title chances.

“We are still very much in touch at the top of the league,” concluded the Welshman.

“We keep going because we have a big week ahead of us, a [League Cup] quarter final on Wednesday and obviously looking to progress in that competition.”

The other concerning thing as well is that our goal didn't come about by being well worked - something the manager could take credit for.

Our goal came about down to one players excellent shot which is natural ability alone. if it wasn't for that goal (and you can't rely on one players individual genius all the time) we'd have lost!

Yeah, I saw that comment in the other thread. I must have a different definition of long ball to that person....

To be honest I have no objection to long balls if they are a pass. My problem is with what I'd call "hopeful balls" i.e. hit the ball into that area and hope our player wins the scrap for it. So you could have a short pass that is still a hit and hope.... we have too much of that

100% agree with this I have been behind him and I have lost my patience now these performances are not good enough.

Me to I am afraid. They weren`t playing for him today. Hull dealt with our shape but he didn`t change it. His subs were like for like. Screaming out for Vinny in the last 15 mins to sit by NDJ.How many games have chelsea and the arse won 1 nil. He didn`t once get off his arse and tell players to stop holding onto the ball and quicken the pace up. one move in the first half with 1 touch football shit them right up so we are capable but we never took advantage. If we lose on Weds to kids i think he will be asked to attend a meeting ...and this is not knee jerk as I wanted to give him time..but I expect more.

Not seen the game today, but read different comments on the game and some of the same tripe from the usual suspects. I watched the last 20 mins of soccer saturday and merson said we had murdered hull but we just couldnt score. We got more nervous as the game wore on because of it.

Now for a team that has SWP, Adebayor, Robinho, Tevez and Ireland in its starting line up, its crazy that we struggled to put the ball in the net when we were having 70% of possession. They parked the preverbial bus in front of the goal by the sounds of it and hit us on the break.

We need a positive result on Wednesday and positive performance on Saturday

I don't mind saying that I still don't want to see the back of Hughes. I was very disappointed with the score today however I do believe that we played them off the park. We had numerous chances to score but were let down by the finishing, the play and set up for Shaun to just put wide (I think) was outstanding and if it had've gone in, it would have been the best goal I'd have ever seen.

It all seemed to change when Robbie came off which then allowed them to push forward, and more than that, the players seemed to react poorly, almost like we'd just lost our talisman. And this I don't blame Hughes for either, it was Robbies first game back and as usual, you don't give someone who has been out injured a full game.

What I will blame Hughes for is either over-training the players as they sometimes look out on their feet and for not getting us out of this rutt. Although I knew we'd have a hard game today, it wasn't helped by some very poor defending on the right flank which again is down to Hughes for giving in to Micah's whinging high and mighty ways.

Maybe a good game against Arsenal will change everyones outlook.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

But for all this attacking talent I don't recall Matt Duke having to make a save in the 2nd half. I'm not for rash decisions but Hughes has really got to earn his corn this week and do something to get us out of this rut and the crisis of confidence that seems to be running through the team. I so want Hughes to do well but the longer this run goes on the more likley that the axe will fall.

Clueless (nothing more to say)
It may be my last year as a season ticket holder as it just doesn't seem the same with so few English and local players (but I said that last year)
