Definitely warming to the lad. Sometimes his positioning was a little off yesterday, but overall he put in a really strong shift. I like the way he played the 'Barry role' and let Barry go on a few rampaging runs forward with the ball; that was a sight to behold!

Also love the way he looks like he should be a 1940's spitfighter pilot.

He's slow, always out of position and a bit of a soft arse. He was utter tripe when he first signed him, now he's just below average, so at least he's improving, long way to go though

Exactly! Because a player goes from abysmal performances to average ones, doesn't mean he's now playing well. You have to be better than average to play for City these days. If Yaya had played yesterday instead we'd have won by 5 or 6!

Im not too satisfied with Javi yet, but boy does he have a header or what...

He's just no De Jong! And it's no good saying "he's a different type of player" to De Jong. Our defensive frailties so far this season are down to the lack of ball winner hard bastards protecting the defence. Garcia just cant do it.... So far.

Glad it's not just me, he adds a certain pizazz to our asthetics....never mind the bank clerk look of tottingham's Parker and Dawson. It's fully "chocks away chaps" with Javi!

He's a fucking swashbuckling hero. I expect him to grab a curtain and trapeze his way into a swordfight.

He was okay for me yesterday. I thought he did fine and it was a nice sight.

He was a lot better but his bottle tends to go if he starts to get lost and he doesn't break play up, he chases people. A big difference. We couldn't get hold of the ball for 40 mins in the first half and he was the reason. But he improved as Fulham tired which says his fitness is getting better. Still couldnt be risked v top 3 or Everton but he is definitely improving. Will it be enough?imo. I think Doug fancies him!

has improved since his arrival, not that it would be hard to do so.

I'll be looking for him to get some consistency at average level of performance now before moving on to better performances. To my mind, it's better that a DM be stable and competent. To me it's pretty clear that he was signed because we could not get DDR, and Mancini wanted that type of player. Garcia is NOT DDR ... but he is starting to fit into his role nicely, and he does have some fight in him, though not light on his feet to say the least.

We'll see what he can do!

Not DDR??? At the moment he isn't NDJ.

I assume at some point during his process he will start to learn the spaces to fill, but at the moment he is very much the headless chicken chasing the ball around without direction. However, he is brilliant in the air on set pieces. I like a DM who can contribute in this fashion.

I'm not sure I go with the defensive frailties comment Twiggy.
At the same stage last season, we had let in 19 goals. This season, we have let in.....erm....19 goals. I remember our defence being lauded for their record last year. Why would we now criticise that same record?

In 2 games this season, (the rags and Norwich) we have let 3 goals in each. That means in the other 21 games we have only let 13 goals past us. I don't see us in any way defensively frail. 3 clean sheets in the last 3 games...not bad eh!

We didn't let in any goals on Saturday John, but could you honestly say we looked defensively solid?

I thought defensively (ie. just talking about the back 4) we looked ok. If you're talking about how the team as a whole defended I'd say not awfully well but lots of the pressure we put ourselves under to defend was often as a result of us ballsing up attacking moves. There were quite a lot of sloppy or just plain misplaced passes that invited pressure onto us between the first and second goals.

It was quite bizarre actually

0 shots on target. Berbatoss 0 shots. That's pretty solid mate. Garcia broke up heaps of their attacks.

Bit of an anomaly for me. We looked rock solid, but fulham attempted nothing in attack.

Eh? They put in a number of crosses if I remember right, they just had no one in the box to get on the end of them. Most of their attacks came down our left because the right hand side was a closed shop and anything they attempted through the middle was snuffed out because of Barry and yes you guessed it Garcia blocking the way.

His passing was a bit erratic but so was the team's in general.
