I don't give a s**t if not every supporter does understand how the Club is run. Even less NOW, that City have finally filled ALL the Key Roles with Leading professionals on each operational ambit.

Business - and professional football, like or loath it, has grown into a major industry - are not run according to principles of democracy: decision making has not to be popular and widely understood. It's just to be prompt and effective.

Otherwise you end up in the same shit like here, in Italy, whereas populism and obnoxious seeking for every idiot's consensum, turn out to take 2 decades and more to dig one tunnel in order to link up Your ports and manufactures to the core european markets, through high-speed rail!
Accordingly, You might also appreciate that almost the very same morons who keep crying and rioting for the respect of few trees and deers, on the other day of the week are busy to moan and cry for the loss of jobs and increasing recession resulting thereof.

Our owner comes from a culture that in many ways lack a public sphere, so it might have something to with that. I don't know. They also don't like drawing attention to themselves, from what I understand anyway. Also, Whenever they interview khaldoon they don't show his entire body and it's impossible to get a read of his body language. Which is key.

I agree with the johns. Sometimes our passivity vis a vis the Media has cost us and it will cost us again. It's for example pretty clear from the speculation about guardiola that the media considers us fair game and that it's possible to create pressure on the management. That doesn't happen when it comes to united or arsenal. It has also happened less often since khaldoon started his yearly interviews. A firm but dismissive attitude versus media speculation would change things.

On the other hand, allowing the media some room for speculation also makes it easier for the board to sack the manager. Perhaps that's what they want.

My respected Coke Mate, may I just ask You - no harm intendedly - on what drugs are on?
MCFC is on a stint of 3+5 years managerial stability and there is not even a shade of evidence to the contrary.
I understand it can make a football forum more boring, but it make collaterally the Club much successful.
this is the only evidence that Owners and Board have given so far in the last 3 years.

The anti-City public/media frenzy was already launched well before our current owners came in, when Shinawatra's alleged abuse of human rights was brought into the equation. The Sheik's massive and immediate investment in our Club only added fuel to an already burning fire.

The only way we will defeat this now ingrained mindset is by what we do on the pitch so, in the meantime, we keep a dignified silence, keep our powder dry and bide our time.

To my mind, this is a far better approach than grovelling shamefully to the Scum loving media, especially as our future success will be at the expense of the Swamp-dwellers and will only herald their inevitable demise.

How's this for silent?

"Manchester City's new director of football has given the first indication of the power he wields at the club by revealing that he wants to play a new formation next season and stipulating that future signings must be tailored to fit the system."

Where's that from? I heard Mancini had denied he'd been told to change formation and that they got on well together and both thought the same way.

It's from an article with no quotes in The Times.

Speaking of RAG tops, the Sun had a piece about CITY's youngster being charged with reckless driving and causing the death of two people, then several pages later a piece about the RAG first team doing a quiz with a picture of them all laughing and joking together. Far be it from me to suggest both stories came from the RAG public relations department at the club... (Since there's no agenda against us).

Absolutely.
It's rock solid traditional policy of whatever decent to leading company and Institution to refuse to be engaged on commenting speculations or whatsoever fact that does not produce legal effects directly to them.
It's just an economic behaviour in order to prevent undeliberate mistakes on unecassary issues with the additional benefit to save a lot of profitless efforts and costs.

Mikhail,
We must not lose sight of the reasons given by the ADUG Group on why they chose to buy us. They made it quite plain at the outset that City were to be the vehicle for the global promotion of Abu Dhabi. Promotion requires that the right message is delivered. Silence is not an option.
Whether the reader or listener, or even the presenters and journalists themselves would understand what dignity was is open to question and I am certain that they wouldn't have a clue what a dignified silence was if it smacked them in the face.

I am not suggesting that City become media whores and jump through hoops to answer every tainted negative article about us but I would suggest that very few outside City are aware of any other side of City, other than the moneybags, greed and mercenary message that has gone out unopposed.

If you are trying to sell something, it does help if you let people know it exists and the good qualities it has.

Once again I find myself in total agreement.

Now is a time when the (mainly) American owners have shown their hands (the other one being Joe Lewis), and an ideal time to show them in the poor light they should be. They basically want English football clubs to deliver a profit for their US bank accounts, or to prop up other ailing clubs in their empires. They dont care about the club - not one jot - their sole aim is a low-maintenance cream-off of profits. FFP is manna from heaven for these people.

To me - and most right-minded folk I would think - their football club exists to win things, not to make profits and pay greedy Americans. This is one message that should be put out.

As I said, I think they were waiting their time. We were spending big and it made it hard to fight against the complaints of the poor, well run clubs like Arsenal and the rags who have to make do with kids born within sight of their stadiums. Assuming we don't spend this window, I'd be interested to see how our spending lines up for the last 12 months.

The Etihad campus is under way, which will bring jobs and opportunities to the area. The potential embarrassment PR wise which was Gary Cook has gone (not anything personal, just always liable to say something stupid) and has only recently been replaced.

I'd expect us to be a stronger position from February to start putting across our view and the press will struggle to find a negative. If Mancini is kept on in summer, especially if Jose is out if work, the press will have no option but to fill their papers with positive stuff.

John (68) old chum,

You make a highly cogent and compelling argument in urging our 'powers that be' to be a little more outgoing in deed and comments directed at the media/public.

However, I still feel that whatever we say or do, in the shorter term, is going to be misrepresented and denigrated by the majority of the Scum supporting hyenas, masquerading as journalists so, for the immediate future, my thoughts are that we simply bide our time.

On a wider scale, if ADUG want to circulate our thoughts, intentions and achievements to a wider global audience, beyond these festering news reporting shores, then I've no argument with that.

It's just what currently goes on in our own island back-yard which infuriates me and leads me to cynically think the way I do, on this particular issue.
