This is madness !!!!! what sort of club sells a striker and doesnt replace him when they are going for the title and a major cup ??????
There was a rumour at the time that Mancini said something along the lines of: If he goes, I go. Considering he'd just won us the title he was probably in a position to say something like that. It might be bollox, but if it's true then it looks like he is no longer untouchable.

It's mentioned on the bbc transfer deadline page.

If there was anything to it they'd have already sold the information to the papers.

I think it's a calculated risk that we can get through the next 13 league games with 3 strikers. I think we've taken the risk because it was good money for a player who wanted off and whose value would only depreciate. I also think Mancini has been put firmly in his place (whatever it says about his future with us).

Exactly that imo. Arguably we were always going to move Mario on and just needed an acceptable price and leaving it till the end of the season would probably have meant missing what we wanted. We can now look to get the player we really want in the summer after he finishes his Chumps league efforts.
Although I like Guidetti I don't think he is that close to being fit enough yet.At his best,as he was lest season,I would have said he was easily good enough to be our 4th striker.Better than Mario on a consistent basis but not as good as Mario if he were to get it right in a game.Sending Guidetti on loan sounds a good idea but probably isn't.There might be a danger he gets thrown in to a team before he is ready which could be detrimental to him.I think he realises that, hope so anyway.
