This Weekends Other Games

Postby Beefymcfc » Sat Feb 02, 2013 11:53 am

I think there's some really interesting games this weekend culminating with the biggy tomorrow afternoon at 4. Many of them are hard to predict and looking at the likes of the Reading v Sunderland game, where they have the exact same form since the New Year, it should make for an interesting weekend of football. I've highlighted who I think will win/draw.

Today

QPR v Norwich 12:45
Arsenal v Stoke 15:00
Everton v Aston Villa 15:00
Newcastle v Chelsea 15:00
Reading v Sunderland 15:00
West Ham v Swansea 15:00
Wigan v Southampton 15:00
Fulham v Man Utd 17:30

Tomorrow

West Brom v Tottenham 13:30

QPR v Norwich is still 0-0 after QPR missed a penalty. The quite amazing stat is that QPR have now used 50 different players this season, the 50th being Tal Ben-Haim!

Also the same result as Chelsea, Spurs and West Ham. Oh, wait, scratch that, Chelsea actually lost to them 1-0.

Since the turn of the year they have only conceded 1 goal in 5 games so far and have not lost a game in the league. Everybody may slate QPR for the position they are in but nobody can slate them for their current form and how their mentality has turned from being beat by all and sundry to not being beat by 3 of the top 4 sides.

Credit where credit is due I say.

no excuse for us not beating them however ... stoke are also hard to play at home, i wouldn't be giving them too much credit for the way they play. QPR did the exact same thing when we went there.

OK, you give them no credit for their recent run of games but do you also give us no credit for our recent run of games in the league where we won 4 and scored 12? Or perhaps us not conceding a goal this year, no credit given?

It's all relative.

they got the result they wanted, credit to them. Personally, I don't have much respect for teams that do not even try to win at home, which they did against us. Stoke are the masters of it, QPR are a willing understudy.

How exactly does that relate to us scoring 12 in the last 4 games, which we won?

Coloccini boots Ba in the face in the penalty area and Webb doesn't give anything for it - his nose is pouring blood.

It relates because it is down to each team to go about their business in a manner that suits them best. We have our way, they have theirs. QPR were very happy with the draw which shows to me that they did their jobs.

And if we were in their position, which we by the way were six years ago, we would also have been happy. Generally speaking anyway. In QPR's eyes, as it would have been in our eyes, it is, and would have been, a bonus point.

I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Looked like he'd broken his nose to me, I'm surprised Chelsea tried to keep him on.
