So you think he's been lacking bottle ?

He had 4 attackers on v QPR plus both centre backs in QPRs half at times with the fullbacks pushed up. What else could he do?

It's not so much that, Ted, listening to his press-conference I get the feeling that he'll have us more worried about them than they will be about us.

If they are 10 points in front with 3 games to play, then, and only then, will I wave the white flag.

I don't think he has been cautious or negative at all this season. In the past certainly but this season he's put out attacking sides but we haven't reached top level very often & I thnk he needs to have a look at it for next season.

The way I see it if we win tomorrow it's back to 7 points. Then all we need to do is believe and keep getting results. If we beat them at the swamp then it's only 4 points and I'm sure they'll drop 4 points this season. All we need to do is keep clean sheets and hope our strikes step up ASAP. Far for over yet!!

True, but it means the same for them. We just need to win more games than they do, draw less games than they do and lose less games than they do.
We will drop points, we just need to drop less than them.

As the season progresses, less teams park the bus.

That allows us an advantage in opening teams up we previously struggled against, and united a disadvantage in that teams actually set out to try and get a result against them.

April onwards will see United drop plenty of points, last season has given me the confidence that as those teams near the bottom or on the periphery of Europe try to beat us, we will win wheras they will find their defence sorely lacking.

I'm honestly not worried despite my misgivings about Mancini as a manager.

Not at all, he showed how much bottle he had last season. Good to see we are in agreement regarding the QPR game also.

EXACTLY!!! You would have thought after what happened last season, that the "never give up", "it's never over till it's over" attitude which won us the title in the last 2 minutes, would have finally sunk in, but no, still the same old miserable bastards thinking all is always lost cropping up

But we haven't gone that much backwards though have we? We are... I think we're -1 point behind last season, comparing corresponding fixtures.

I think it's more of how theyhave improved on scores. I'd suggest that they are on for a Premier League record and are probably on one at the moment. There's not much we can do about that I'm afraid.

In a way yeah. If nothing goes drastically for the worse, firing Mancini, which FU seems to think might be possible so that's why I'm bringing it up, would be like when Chelsea fired Ranieri for not being able to compete with the Invincibles.

I personally wouldn't want to see Mancini go, regardless. It's been a difficult time since winning the league with regard to transfers, injuries and certain player problems. We found out early that all wasn't going to plan but at least we are still competing. That's all I ask at the moment.

Historically, thats EXACTLY when they do drop their points. Not just last season, but something like 5 out of the last 8 seasons they have dropped 5 points or more in the run in, its just that other teams crumble worse which leads to the united myth of finishing strongly. Its unusual for a team to pick up towards the end of the season, like we did - i firmly believe the same will happen again with us finishing strongly and them with a whimper, and with their defence, I actually think its more likely than last season because their defence is even worse than last year and prone to shipping goals against increasingly desperate teams that the rapist cant pull them out of when the other side is scrapping for their lives.

Combined with us still having to play them, I'm perfectly happy with a 10 point deficit at this stage of the season - dont get me wrong, it could be better, but its far from terminal.

Its all about whether they can extend their lead by the end of March, as I dont think 10 will be enough for them if we fully exploit other teams vulnerabilities which open up towards the end of the season

It's not a ten point lead until this round of matches is over. At the moment it's a potential 7/9/10 point lead.

Yes, but if we overhaul them come the end of the season it counts as 10 points (smiley face)....

It's going to be very hard to overhaul them now, people saying we win tomorrow and beat them at the swamp its then 4 points. But what about the other games where we will drop points? Everton away etc etc.....

I think we can still do it. Don't forget that the rags have the arse and chelski in the run in, who will be fighting for europe. Plus closer to the end, other teams will also be fighting either against relegation or for europe and will have to have a go at the scum. When teams have a go at them and put pressure on them, they crumble. So aslong as we stay close to them and beat them at the swamp, we are still in this race. Have faith people!
