I recall the race between him and Ozil for Germany's 4th goal. At first I thought he was playing for offside, or that he had torn a hamstring.

And not for him helping us win our first premier league title? Could do with more fans like you

yeah, just to add. that was the goal where the defense commited suicide and all ran upfield wasn't it? Leaving the runners from midfield to cover their arses.

I think Barry has a good few years for city. He reads the game exceptionally well, even if he isn't as fast as the fastest person you want to compare him with.

A game in which he was exposed by the rest of team of the team providing no cover and a game in which he wasn't fully fit.

But yeah, remember him for one game for England and not for winning three trophies with City

A game during which he wasn't even half fit & was the only fucking person in the team (plus that pair of utter fucking wankers Pearce & Capello), who had the intelligence to realise that if every cunt goes up for a corner against a team like germany, it is fucking suicide. So half fit Barry, rather than hiding up in the German penalty are like very other twat, reads the problem & puts his half fit body up against someone with 5 yards more pace, to try & rescue the situation, whilst the manager & assistant are too busy worrying about bringing on Emile Fucking Heskey.

And yes, Barry's reward for putting the team first, is to get the fucking blame for the whole thing for the rest of his life.

Utterly sickening but true.

Amen. And it's why most football fans think he's shit and most City fans appreciate what he does.

Think it was on here where someone once said you don't know what he does until he doesn't play and then it's obvious. On Saturday, although he was on the pitch, he wasn't really playing and it was obvious.

If you read any of my previous post in this thread you will see I am a fan of Barry. But I am not blinded by the fact he is a City player who played a part in winning the league.

He is not a top player, a good Premiership player and decent squad player for a top side but as he has shown in the CL and that WC he does not belong in the big leagues.

Neither am I blinded by it. I watch him every week & know what his qualities & faults are. He lacks pace but is one of the world's best in that position, & was mentioned in a press conference by Pep Guardiola as such a while back.

Gareth Barry, a player who wasn't fit prior to the tournament but was so important to the England plan that they were prepared to take him injured/recovering. They know he is well off the pace hoping he'd get upto speed and actually got a cold/virus during the tournament but they still insisted on playing him.

I love my national game but when they hung him out, knowing the circumstances, was the last straw for me. He wasn't just a scapegoat for England, it was a scapegoat laid down against us as a club. Promotions and shirt sales were the priority, saving face for the likes of Rooney, Lampard etc.

Always watch but will never have the same emotion until someone brings back some integrity to the English National team.

I hadn't realized out running ozil was the new measure for being a top player.

Half of ours would need binning on that guideline.

Barry is an excellent footballer in a title winning team. Just because football fans use the term "world class" like it's going out of fashion doesn't change that fact. Had we progresses in the cl he'd be an excellent player in a cl team as well.

You're such a fan of his that all you will remember of his career is a mistake he made in a World Cup match, whilst not fully fit, against a team that was far superior to England's in every department? I don't think there was another English player who would have stopped Ozil that day. Barry played an integral role in our title win and that will be my abiding memory of him

I have never been Barrys biggest fan myself. He certainly has his limitations but i have grown to appreciate him more over time.He is a top pro and has done a very sound job for City but he is just 32 now. This will pobably be his last season as a regular in the starting eleven.

Seeing that we've brought the England thing up, Terry or Barry?

To be honest, neither are my type. However, I think Barry would be gentler and more considerate whereas Terry would record it on his mobile to show Ashley Cole. So Barry for me.

Well played. Barry would be where you needed him in an unselfish unspoken fashion whereas it would take the tabloids and a lawsuit to get Terry to even notice you. No brainer.

Not bad. Not bad at all. 8/10.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

That was desperately close to making me laugh, which apparently based upon the source material with which you had to work, was no mean feat.
