Gareth Barry

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Barry is a top player, and still very important for us. He only appears to be found wanting when we as a team are failing to dictate the pace of the play as a cohesive unit, which includes defending as a team: when he's the only one running back at (his) full pace trying to patch things up he's bound to look shit. I still balk at people who's opinion seems to suggest he's wank because he has no pace. I wonder if these people have occasionally played football with an extremely good player who isn't fleet of foot but fleet of mind, and knows where to be on a big pitch with 22 people on it. Every player shit or excellent, has a 'mare every now and then.

Gareth Barry is a very good footballer, and an integral part or our core.

I don't think ANYONE has suggested Gareth Barry is "wank". I said he is overrated. Mostly for the reasons you just mentioned there. He still very much serves the purpose at least remainder of the season but he is no world class midfield dynamo some make him out to be.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Well said! Gazbaz despite recent fuck ups is 100% more reliable than most of the others Mancini tries in midfield.

3 posts. One about glory-hunters, one calling Kompany a work-horse, and now one slagging off one of our best players for the last 2 years. Interesting....

I think there should be a history site where people can go and understand where we came from to where we are now. People joining late, and I have no problem with them, should have to take a test before even thinking about being a City fan.

Question 1: Who is the Invisible Man?

Answer 1: Bing [Bot]?

You know, I was looking at that today and thinking 'You Rag Bastard' ;-)

Everytime I see posters accused of being rags I always think it's obvious who the rag is, it's that Bing ( Bot ) fucker hanging around the bottom of the page being a red cunt. :)

The fact that he has the audacity to show up in red is even more annoying. Rag Cunt.

I think it's you who should "jog on" lad.

Barry is an extremely important player for us. He was also extremely important last year when we won the league playimg mainly at a fast tempo.

So I don't know what you are shiting on about.

And I've seen you bitch and moan about two or three players regularly. You can deny it if you want. Or you can admit it.

Or go for a jog or whatever.

I'm a Barry fan but the fact is he is getting slower and slower everygame - I would like to see him replaced so we can have more fluidity in our midfield - our counters aren't quick enough

I see where You're coming from: I've been thinking the same of Pirlo, anytime I saw a game he started in the last three years.

I think, and shouted of it a fair deal this season, that it's just a matter of Mancini using Bazza more sensibly

if you can back up this fiction with fact then i'll agree. Where have I or better yet who have I regularly moaned about ?

calling someone shit when they've been shit isn't regularly moaning about someone or else the whole forum would be guilty of that.

He is not the most talented player we have signed since the takeover but he has made the very best of what he has got and has contributed as much as anyone has.

I'd like us to keep Gareth Barry after he retires. The kind of player who has to think constantly about the game can only help the young lads, in my opinion.
