Andre Marriner

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Andre Marriner

What did you think of his performance today?

I was fuming in the 1st half and when they showed us as 14 fouls to their 1 I was even worse.

when Silva kept both feet on the ground and still got penalised, that was the turning point for me.........

Up until now we have had a good run with him as ref and he usually comes across pretty fair ... but today seemed like under direct orders from someone (FA/Scum = same shit) to ensure we fall further behind so league is all but secured for them so they can start resting players and focus on other fronts ... and the fucker tried very hard to do just that, luckily we were in form today.

Morally questionable, i.e., corrupt. Nothing else could explain that effort today.

It's games like these that make me feel the ref's are given orders (which we all know they are). At the moment the league is in a bit of a rut with the Rags running away with it and what better way to spice it up if the next 4 are all fighting it out for the runners up spots. A chelsea win today would've seen the deficit cut to 1 point with Spurs a further point behind if they win tomorrow. Even if Spurs lose then they've got a fight with Arsenal. All good for Sky and their paying customers?

As it is now, in spite of his best efforts, the top 2 spots seem to be sealed unless there is a sizeable collapse. Good for the viewing public? I think not.

Wonder if they ever thought of tripping up the rags, just to make it really interesting?

Agree with the first sentence but not the rest. Sat there at half time thinking there was an agenda but my take is that it's Taggart's last year and they want him to leave with another title. Nice story for all the powers in football as the best team of local lads in the world beat the despicable bunch of mercenaries.

I know what you're saying Doug but for a ref who I hold in quite high esteem, suddenly turns shit overnight, then I want to know why. Surely a ref who does consistently well should not have such a crap half?

Anyone can have a bad half or a bad game even City players.Do you think some City players are occasionally on the take when they perform really badly?

A bit harsh there pal, who said anything about being on the take?

This is a multi-billion pound entertainment industry, it's beyond the realms that they want to make it more of an event.

haha maybe not on the take in the literal sense but I think it amounts to the same thing if you believe he ran the match based on pre match orders or something like that. If that was in anyway the case he would have sent Joe off or asked the pen to be taken again because somebody was in the area when it was taken.

Now if you want a bent reffing situation did you see the penalty decision given to AC Milan in Mario's 1st game. 3rd minute of injury time and a good tackle knocked the ball for a corner but the ref pointed to the spot. A scandalous decision.

Doug, have you seen any replays of the penalty? I was sat more or less in line with Marriner, and it looked like a dive to me.
