we dominated from start to finish, but of course the media is now focusing on the pen save, as if it were an even match until that point. fuck off.

Not perfect as a performance but, as a fan, that had pretty much everything you ask for. Creativity, guile, endeavour, balls....it might not be the best we've played this season technically but it felt like the best performance.

Bloody brilliant. I don't think (barring a miracle) we can overhaul them but if we go "down" playing like that I honestly can 100% deal with it. We'll be back next season better, stronger, hungrier.

Just to add to the happy thoughts, I do love seeing top class goals and we got two today. Both superb skill.

Absolute belter of a game, really enjoyed it. Thought Kolo and Rodwell were immense, but the whole team played well really, worked their socks off.

Thought Mariner was a tad suspect to put it mildly though, 14 fouls to 1 at HT, and 20 to 5 at FT. Very odd.

Thought we were excellent yesterday and it was a very enjoyable game. Garcia continues to improve and the point of signing him is coming clearer. I again thought the opening line up was not as creative as it should/could be, but it worked a treat.

It should save us from a battle for second place, and it may also lay down a marker for if we play Chelsea again this season. Twice we've beaten and all three times we've played them we have been far superior to them. They wouldn't want to meet us again.

Certainly it felt like one of our best performances. And one of our most important.

I'll give him credit for doing what we all wanted him to do and that was get Yaya the fuck out of dodge that was sitting in front of the back 4, where I think he is gash compared to higher up. Once he did this he could have played anybody else there, Rodwell, Barry, Milner, Garcia, he has 4 others to choose from ffs.

After he did that it didn't really matter what he did with the rest of the team. It's exactly how we played many times last season yet it has taken 3/4 if this to revert back. Why?

Might as well use this thread as start a new one.
Haven't seen much since, but in the match thread Kun was getting a right slagging, which I really don't think he deserved. Ok he's not firing on all cylinders at the moment, but tbh that only shows through a lack of goals.
Firstly Chelsea's MOTM, Cahill was so tight on him all game, it looked like he was trying to bum him, secondly, of the chances he missed, none were simple, had the overhead gone in, everyone would be wanking over it for a month, the lob over the keeper was just one of those (a pretty difficult thing to do at the best of times). He was doing the right thing all the time, just wasn't quite coming off.
Thirdly he dragged defenders away enabling Yaya's goal, and practically made the second on his own.
I know everyone want's to see him banging them in, but Saturday AFAIC, he had a really good game, and certainly didn't deserve the slagging he got from a lot on here.

Ultimately, his job is to score goals and he should 100% have scored one of the chances that he had - the rest of his play is fine apart from his first touch, which seems to have deserted him.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to what's said in the match threads. Very much 'heat-of-the-moment' stuff that we all come out with when watching a game. Kun gets a much easier ride than most, to be honest.

He had new shoes this sunday. It was announced on his Twitter and his homepage. Great shoes aren't they?

I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Barry was injured.

You are mistaken. For most of last season we played with Nasri or Silva on the flanks and Aguero off another striker - Dzeko or Balotelli for the most part. Yaya was alongside Barry in central midfield for the most part of the season. In close games as a change of tactic, Mancini would sacrifice a Barry or a Nasri, bring on De Jong and push Yaya further forward.

Anyway, Mancini got his tactics spot on for Sunday as we matched their 3 central midfielders - Lampard, Ramires and Mikel - and Yaya, Rodwell and Garcia won that battle and as a result we controlled the game for long periods.

I thought the team was not adventurous enough again when I heard the line up. But fair play though we ran over their midfield. Still want to see width and pace.
I wonder if Barry missing and the continued improvement in Garcia and Rodwell's decent contribution gave us that extra bit of drive in midfield?
I'd have started with Handsome Carlito with Aguero.
But thanks for asking.
