actually city were in the 1981 league cup semi final, v liverpool.
but good read anyway.

Cup games are the best opportunities for a manager to demonstrate his tactical awareness, which IMO Hughes has shown himself lacking. This cup run and game tonight could very well decide Hughes future, not forgetting this is the back door into Europe if we finish with a poor league position.
