Weiss scared Scunthorpe silly when he came off the bench - I think 20 or 30 mins at the end of the game against Hull (depending on the scoreline) would be a great thing for him. I have no problems with SWP or the way he plays by the way - he only needs one of his runs at the defenders to come off for us to win a game (and he creates space for his teammates too)

Like with all things Maybe as fans a little bit what most Liverpool fans are showing loyalty and paitence with THE team and players, Carragher has had a mare this season, what do the scousers do, they support him, Manager has faced a media sack him now campaign, Scousers say they want Rafa end of !. City are on a journey maybe as fans and I count myself we should just chill and enjoy this. HOW MANY OF US HAVE THE NERVE TO TRUST !! THAT IS KEY IMO.

Another day passes and another opportunity to blood Weiss goes abegging.

Effort again faultless from SWP, but once again he had umpteen chances to beat the full-back and get round the back but again in the final third it just wasn't good enough with the opportunities he had.

Nice goal, courtesy of an assist by Gardner but SWP is still under par, granted he isn't the only one but I am puzzled why Weiss doesn't get a run-out at home, against alehouse teams with a full-back he can destroy.

should not be in starting eleven at minute! could not score in a knocking shop at minute, his dribbling and running past men excellent most of time shooting is poor. think we need to rest and give another chance

although im a big swp fan he was quick enough to f*ck off to chelsea

He was good today imo. You can't go about beating defenders and whipping in crosses when your lone striker is stood on the halfway line.

However I don't think Shauny should ever take corners. You can make a brew, have a fag and get through a few pages of your favourite tabloid it in the time it takes for his corners to come down from the sky!

His first 2 corners today barely got above grass level in height, and the guy on the front post simply knocked them away.

Is corners are at least getting past the 1st man, it's just the snow on them that puts the players off heading them!

I'm amazed there hasn't be a Micah thread tonight, I'm amazed that kid gets a run-out!

Apart from his goal I also thought SWP was poor today and has been for a while. On a few occasions he does get past his fullback but the problem is his final ball.

So many times he just hits in the back of another defender or passes wayward. So Infuriating.

Shaun played well second half and genuinely carried our main attacking threat of getting a second goal after being largely uninvolved in the first half.

His corners were not very good but a mitigating factor is that there are three others ahead of him in the corner-taking queue usually - Barry, Bellamy and Petrov.

SWP is overated, apart from the odd goal he wastes far more than he creates, and by that I appreciate the contributary factor of opposing defenders, but he rarely beats any of them anymore.

Unless he sorts himself out SWP will be gone with Hughes.

shauny had a good game i dont get how people can winge about him when there was alot worse on display ireland and de jong were quite invisable most of the game

the only reason people winge about him is because hes the player everybody notices because hes always got the ball he sets up most everything for us and scores a few aswell yeah his final ball isnt great so maybe we should buy beckham and you would all be happy with a lazy cunt that does fuck all all game but puts 2 good crosses in, and anyone that dribbles weiss needs to remember that were playing micah richards at right back could weiss really cover for that fuck up for 90 minutes like shauny does and still have an impact going forward i doubt to fuck he could but when we get a decent right back (not fucking johnson) yeahgive him a few games see how he does

Wow, it just goes to show.
I thought Shauny had a very good game. I was expecting comments on here that he had proved to be the right choice rather than throwing Vlad the Impaler on.

Piccs - I dont agree SWP had a good game, certainly not up until he scored. In fact I was screaming at the TV as he wasted ball after ball, or just plain lost possession.

But what he does do is win matches (or in this case draw them!) when he suddenly conjures up something out of the blue, usually with the more difficult situations! Plus his back-tracking is pretty good.

So for that reason I think it is difficult to leave him out of the team with the current players available. But at the end of the day, great teams just dont give the ball away, so whether Shaunie will make the whole journey with us I dont know.

Agree that right now he is going to feature far more than not, but I don't expect him to be in the side that's challenging for the title next year (or maybe in 2). Tricky wingers are perhaps even more reliant on confidence that strikers, and SWP just seems to have lost his when it comes to taking players on. Look at how Lennon exploded onto the scene beating players all over the pitch, then spent two years not even making a first team, before his return to form. Ashley Young is suffering a confidence blow, and Wayne Routledge never recovered the form that made him a hit with Palace when he was 16. I just think at this stage of his career it's going to take a miracle for Shaun to find the form he's capable of consistently - I'd love him to, but while dribbling remains his main asset going forward, I fear we're always going to find him occasionally brilliant, but all too often frustratingly inconsistent

Goaters 103 wrote:I suggested a couple of weeks ago that Weiss deserves a game to see if he can do better. Hull at home again provides an ideal platform for him as he will see lots of the ball in the final third, and should hopefully be able to use the ball more effectively than SWP has.

As for Shaun, no-ones making him the boo boy or sticking him on the scrap heap. The plain truth is a spell out of the team might just reinvigorate him, as he's been generally poor this season. The efforts there as always from him, but it just isn't happening for the guy at the moment which is blindingly obvious. He will be back stronger come xmas time, I have no doubt but its time to have a look at weiss who has earned a game waiting for his chance whilst also showing up well at international level in a team that's qualified for the WC.

Completely agree.

If his rough patch gets any bigger the scousers will try and build a ground on it.

I love him to bits, but maybe he needs to be rested more often. Not remotely suggesting we ditch him, but it might do him good, and I'd like to see more of Weiss. SWP does currently win more headers than Ade tho!
