Claiming the Charity Shield as a proper trophy

Am I alone in getting annoyed at this when Mancini does it?

These are the only 'proper' trophies, in descending order of importance:

Premier League/Champions League
FA Cup
League Cup

The Charity Shield and World Club Championship (which Rafa has under Inter on his CV) mean jack shit.

For me, the most annoying moment of Mancini's tenure so far was the way he gifted that LC to Liverpool last year. How sweet would a league/league cup double have been?

I really like Mancini but he needs to stop waffling on about the Charity Shield when defending his 'three-trophy' record.

Everybody knows the charity shield is THE trophy. The FA Cup final and the entire league season are the semi finals. You can't win the charity shield without a glorious performance in one of the other tournaments, so it's the league/FA Cup +1 for me.

Also, European Super Cup is a no-trophy. UEFA are now pimping out the competition to be hosted in countries that have no stadia that fill the criteria required to host a Champs' or Europa League final.

No you ain't alone. I've ALWAYS felt it's just a friendly tbh.. and the big trophy presentations & celebrations are a joke imo. fine, give the trophy to the winning captain but no need to make a fuss about it in this case.

I just don't think we should be dismissing trophies when we hadn't' won any for so long. It was more of a tongue in cheek statement, but maybe didn't come across like that.

I see it as a minor trophy but a trophy all the same. If I was asked how many trophies I had won, like Mancini, I would say 3 without a blink of an eye.

If you don't class it as an achievement, the Premier League Champions beating the European Champions, then so be it.

By the looks of things, every tournament is now 'by invite' only. We are now guests in every comp we play, they can kick us out whenever they want.

Cast your mind back to the season before last when we lost it to the rags, were you pissed off that we lost it (ignoring who we played)??

Oh and for the record, if you look up us or any other team in Wiki, they list them, therefore it must count ;-)

I am pleased we have figured in it for the last two seasons and many more to come hopefully.

It didn't matter to me last year, but this year it did!

And as you said, it's the beginning of the new season, with a fixture containing 2 of the best sides from the previous season so generally should be something to look forward to.
