How many European cups did Pele or Maradona win?

Very hard to compare like for like. Best just to appreciate them all as awesome players

I do, and that's the point I was making. People will make arguments for and against but in reality they all had their own genious.

Applaud them all, just for what they brought to the game.

I agree that Pele was the best ever. But at the same time we only ever seen Pele in the world cup finals. In 1958 I was not born then obviously I dont remember the one in 1962. The1970 finals is where he stood out and as far as I'm concerned thats where I base my judgement on. Otherwise we didn't see him play. There are some old B&W recordings but pretty little really.

There is also the fact he scored 1000 goals. Is that down to his brilliance alone or a reflection of the quality of the Brazillian league?

He didn't. He was a member of the Brazil squad that won the 1994 and 2002 World Cups and the runners up in 1998.

If you look above you'll see where I was coming from. However, it's like when NickyBoy says about how many UEFA Cups Messi has won compared to Pele but at the same time you could ask how many cups Messi has won on his own continent, or even intercontinental.

It's not about cups though, it's about how you see and enjoy the player. Nobody can argue that all the players mentioned aren't real quality and what is telling is the Tranny hasn't been mentioned yet ;-)

Is he genuinely asking why Pele never won the UEFA Cup? He spent his Club career with Santos and then had a couple of seasons with New York Cosmos. Someone needs to buy the Lad an Atlas.

David villas finish on that 3rd goal was pure class. It makes me wonder that if it were dzeko or sergio they would have missed it. Maybe tevez would have buried it.

Did the commentators of the Barca game say that was the first time someone turned over a two goal decifit at this stage?
