I'm with you on this Mr Merchant. I thought someone else had picked up the baton and was updating it though.

His son picked it up I think but looking at site traffic, what was a labour of love for the creator of the site became a question of what was a sensible use of his time for 5 visitors a week.

Shame they didnt offer the archive to the club though, they could have kept it up to date fairly easily and incoporated it into their sote

It hasn't been updated since the Burnley game a few seasons ago. Around that time, the City fan who dedicated much of his life to putting that excellent site together, (no mean feat), sadly died. There were several people involved with compiling the information and after his death, I thought one of them, or a member of his family would continue his work and update the site in his memory. Regretfully, that never happened.

I am a regular user of the Citystats site, which is a most valuable and valued resource. When I realised it was stagnating, I decided to do what I could to ensure the work already done wasn't done in vain. Since that time, I have almost finished creating several data pages, with a view at some point of approaching the family and seeing if they would allow me to update and in some instances modernise and add to the site.

1...I have almost finished compiling the "matches" section since that Burnley game. There are a few attendances to add and I have yet to add the player/sub debut info, for players from the City academy.
2...I have completed a single page, at a glance, historic record containing each season, Club Name, Ground, Lgue Attendances, League record (pl,w,d,l etc), Position, FA Cup/League Cup rounds reached, Other trophies, Euro Comp and Rnd reached. I havealso included the wartime league records. I have included a 3pts per win column and am finishing off a pts per game column to aid comparison.
3..I have finished a 1 page, at a glance, FA Cup record of all games, venues and results.
4...A complete record of all derby matches, including St Marks v Newton Heath, inclusive of League, non League, Charity, various cup comps, friendlies and testimonial games.

The ideas was/is to put the whole lot together into one complete City database.

Should anyone want any info from that listing, I would be happy to help supply it.

impressive stuff john

given the depth and range of history contained within the site and because the content is fact not opinion driven, it would be nice if the club chipped in in some way to help with its upkeep...

How many times have we played them in other sports, do you know? We've certainly played at least one cricket match against them in the 1960s, I think a few more. Did we regularly play other sports against them in the formative years of the two clubs?

Are you taking the piss clever clogs?...:-)

It doesn't matter anyway, cos I haven't a clue Mate.

Can't remember the exact year we played the rags at cricket at Lancashire's Old Trafford...but I can remember we bowled them out for 69. We beat them and they decided to riot and invade the pitch.

The Kippax used to taunt them with..."We play football and cricket too"

That's a terrific site. Just had a look at the first game I attended and found out Neil Young was a sub. I never saw him play.

The Bluemoon site has an alternative one. Your match is here - http://www.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/History/Matches/Match.aspx?id=4037

No. I have a programme from a match but have seen a score from what I think is another (that is from the early sixties whereas my dearth of programmes is from the late sixties).

Incidentally, you always seem to go pseudo-aggressive on me. Why? If it's a simple reason, please PM me. If it's more drawn out then Facebook me. If it's all in my mind, then post here or however you feel.
