Are things gettings strange?

Postby Lee_R » Thu Mar 14, 2013 9:52 am

Only rumours etc obviously but I just feel theres big moves going on behind the scenes.

Balotelli gone and not replaced
Tevez no rush over contracts and no worries from the board
Dzeko rumours about going back to Germany
K Toure free to leave
Nothing from the board about anything
Not much money not being spent (reserved for summer?)
Bobby Russia and Monaco rumours persist
Bobby seeming more and more distant in press
Mourinhos got a new club for next season (Sorry)

Theres just seems to be this air of transition at the club.. rather than were the champions and were a solid unit.

It's been like that since the end of last season.

Looking back now, we know that they had Soriano definitely booked in for a while, but it's pretty obvious now that Tricky was also on his way & that's why they released some of our main transfer negotiators & chief scouts before the window opened & left that poor cunt Marwood to take all the shit.

That was wrong imo but something obviously delayed the appointment of Soriano & we had to operate for a while with a stand in plus Khaldoon & Marwood rather than a proper team running the show.

Now, I recon they ARE running the show & they will inform Khaldoon of their decisions on everything inc Mancini, Marwood, players, scouts etc, when they have the review at the end of the season.

or it could be a lot of bullshit nonsense spread by the media The same media that spouted on about a hoax tournament this tells you all you need to know about how the media in this country operates. See something on a website or twitter blow it up out of all proportions and then you can spend the next 3 days discussing the story. This is much easier than actually trying to produced accurate information

I am not sure what you mean by Bobby being distant have you seen the press conferences didnt seem distant to me

Has anyone heard anything from Sheikh Mansour or Khaldoon in the past 3 years.....so nothing new there

Our new Chief Exec and Director of football have not said anything since they joined....so nothing new there

I am sure the club are interested in moving a few players on and bringing a few new players in which club doesnt in the transfer window so lets not get our knickers in a twist

It makes perfect sense.

Oh, and if Marwood was solely responsible for the last transfer window, he would have been sacked, not moved.

I was gutted we didn't get Hazard, but whoever fucked up the Javi Martinez deal deserves a medal.

I dont know mate, we definately used to hear more fom Khaldoon and Cook because the club were trying to interact with the fans more. Just seems like the iron curtain has gone up. And I mean Mancini used to seem a lot more relaxed and assured for me.

Its right about being from the end of last season.. just really weird, this season should have been our arrival where it seems more like something very uncertain has been happening and I dont mean Garry Cook going changed everything. Maybe the new guys are assessing stuff but even then.. why did this need to happen considering all the apparent changes and improvements that had gone on afte arrival of Cook, Khaldon etc.. they used to always talk about how we had improved so much behind the scenes. Its weird.

I saw the Arse game last night, had my eyes on Javi, the commentator said something like Javi is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world...I didnt see it.

The amount of pure bullshit spouted about him has been astonishing. I was initially taken in by it, watching Bilbao with their fluent movement & Martinez cropping up in different areas etc, then I started just watching him & was gobsmacked.

Then I started posting on here that I hoped we didn't sign him.

Back to the OP; it will be interesting to see if there are more staff brought in by Txiki next season & whether we continue to employ so many of Bob's personal selections or start to change one or two.

What I did see and like is that left CB Dante. He didnt have a lot of defending to do, BUT, I really liked some long passes he made, mostly to wingers, when Arsenal pressed Bayerns midfield. Some of those passes are those we have been missing in games against Dortmund, Napoli etc, when our DMs struggled.
Perhaps, we might see Nasty trying those passes in seasons to come. And I hope we will have some wingers to stretch the opposition.

Balotelli will be replaced by Guidetti.

Tevez, there are quotes doing the rounds from Marwood today saying further discussions over a contract extension will take place in the summer.

Dzeko, deserves to be playing regular football, won't get in ahead of Tevez or Aguero, he's on a big salary, makes sense imo to sell him if we get the right price and use the proceeds from that and Mario's sale to buy a new more versatile frontman.

Kolo, big salary, we need to reduce the wage bill so unless he's willing to take a massive cut and a short term contract it makes sense to let him move on.

Nothing from the board? Soriano just released a statement t'other day about the direction the club will be taking in regards marketing.

There will be money spent this summer as Txixi has had time to settle in, make his assessment and this summer he will start to put his stamp on the squad.

The rest is just bollox.

Of course there is an air of transition, this is natural when a club has changed their chairman and technical team. I don't see anything strange tbh.

I was amazed how often they missed out Martinez when he asked for the ball, but when he gets it you see why.

I prefer the midfield to come & take the ball off the cbs like Barca do personally but it's different passing to Xavi or Iniesta than Martinez or Garcia. Silva etc need to drop in there more imo, especially in Europe.

Edit: and I too would like to see some wide players but fear we will go with more fullbacks instead.

It's very strange for a side who has just won the title.

I suppose it was created unavoidably by the Cook saga but it hasn't been very well organised & is partially responsible for ruining this season imo. The whole club has felt like it is treading water.

I agree that the whole Cook saga fecked us up but the transition we're going through now is natural considering we have a new technical team on board.

We all know that whatever happens at City, be it good, bad or indifferent, the media will sensationalise it and use it to denigrate the Club's aspirations and its achievements.

On that basis, the policy of maintaining a stone wall is understandable and is totally different from one of "maintaining a masterful inactivity", as quoted and practiced by the 19th century British Prime Minister George Canning (albeit referring to his foreign policy approach).

I'm sure it would be more exciting for us all if the Club followed the Bismarckian principle of 'striking whilst the iron is hot and making the iron hot by striking', but that might provide even more ammunition for the media so, in the meantime, City is/are keeping their powder dry, keeping their cards close to their chests and waiting for the right time to move into action.

In the meantime, there's enough going on upon the pitch, League and FA Cup-wise, to keep the fans occupied.

We just need to patiently await the summer.
