Simple really. If you want the Rag shit thrown down your throat, 24-7, then crack on sunshine.

You're right though, I should just suck it up and turn the sound down. I wonder if they'll give me a discount if I tell them I don't want to listen, just watch? Funnily enough, I get a weekly update letter from Sky offering me cut price viewing, what do I do, What do I do!

Now, where's that sign-up number again.

Edit: Nope, just heard Rat-Boy advertising Sky. Don'tthink I'll bother now. Enjoy your viewing ............... for a cost.

It is at a cost beefy, you're dead right. I wanted rid of the cunts after the shambolic rag wankathon that preceeded our league win. It was beautiful watching them squirm but I knew it would be even worse this season and I wasn't wrong. A fucking gary neville ad for man united. Running solid for months now.

It's disgusting.

I'm in both camps - I agree that it has the best coverage around and it's this that has me hanging on, but by God are they biased. Right the way through.

I suppose it's selling your soul for luxury. It won't be the first time folk have done it. Just admit, like me, that that is exactly what you're doing and for God sake please don't pretend you can't see the bias like the other two fucktards on this site.

I couldnt care less, same as any other channel, if there's something on I dont want to watch then I just turn over.

That said I refuse to pay for ESPN as I've already paid for my TV licence, sky box, sky subscription, High def, 3D and sports package... That extra charge is too much. I just use my brothers SkyGo password for ESPN games ;)

I remember that ad campaign.

It involved every club.

What is your point? Do you believe there is no bias?

it highlighted key goals scored by Huddersfield Town, us and Sheffield Utd. It featured fan reaction from other clubs too (although I don't see any happy scum fans). In fact they only feature for conceding. To US (I think it's Vinnie's in the 1 nil)
Individuals have bias, sometimes individuals dominate enterprises. I believe there is some bias and much more paranoia about bias.
Do you believe we never get a fair shout from any press? And they never get criticised by any press?

Oh and "my point" is that Sky is capable of balance. You don't agree with that do you?

I never said sky wasn't capable of balance. They are. Everyone is capable of balance.

I don't believe they display balance on enough occasions. I believe they keep repeating how good united are, even when they are not that good or don't deserve the praise. I believe I see far more criticism of city than I ever see of united. I see pundits tear city apart when given the slightest opportunity.

I believe sky have never done an advertisement campaign that consisted of how brilliant it was growing up being a manchester city fan. Repeated every day for months. Featuring not one other club.

I believe they favour united. By a country mile. I believe it's evident on an almost weekly basis, through sky sports news and in the difference with how the wonderful martin tyler commentates our matches as opposed to United's.
I believe what I see.

What I don't believe is that you can't see it.

Firstly Sky don't just show football, they show a variety of high quality sporting events which people enjoy watching. Secondly, they show a huge amount of Barca and Real games which are definitely worth watching. Thirdly and most importantly they show a lot of our games, games which I wouldn't be able to watch otherwise ( I'm not watching on a crappy stream which stop starts every 2 seconds)
Beefy, when you go to a football game is there commentary? NO there isn't. The most important thing is the match by a long distance.I couldn't care less about the commentary, when I'm watching a match, i'm focused on the game, not what two opinionists think. Yes SKY has its flaws, but on balance it provides an enormous amount of football and other sports and that for me over compensates.
FInally, Ratboy has generally been a very balanced pundit, yes he sways to United on occasion- but he's praised us to the high hills on many occasions to.
I don't give a shit about the commentary, the game itself is the only important thing.

Mate, your continuing attempts to show media balance in general, just show what small straws everyone has to clutch to & pretty much prove the opposite.

If the rags had scored a certain goal in the last minute of last season, do you think Sky would be showing ads for 'every' goal or just one ?

That was the biggest thing that's ever happened in domestic football here & I do mean EVER.

Sky would be running that every day, instead of Ratboy, if the rags had scored it, just like the Mirror etc ran ads with Rooney's overhead kick for a good year or so but have never used an ad with 'that' goal on it.

They are ALL pandering to rags, ALL the time. Of course they have to show a bit of City or other teams. HAVE to. Not WANT to.

If it was upto them, they would buy every game of Utd's, show every game of Utd's in every competition, live, & just fill in the gaps in schedule with everyone else but mainly Liverpool.

They are running an advert for Utd every day. Think about it. Did they not realise it would be considered biased by some supporters ? Do they care ? No. It appeals to rags. Is it the only advert they could have used to do the job ? No. But it appeals to rags.

They are choosing to run an advert for Man Utd every day, because it appeals to their main target audience: rags.

Old age, poverty and senility prohibit me from signing up to Mr Murdoch's odious news/media extravaganza.

Moreover, politically, I can't stand this antipodean swine so even if I could, I wouldn't sign up and put money into his coffers - in every event, principles are worth more than pragmatism and the more you handle pitch, the more you become besmirched by it. The only place for Murdoch is in jail with the rest of his News International acolytes.

At the end of the day, in a fairer and less capitalist infected world, Sky ought to be liable, somewhere or other, for copyright infractions effected by taking/stealing the name of John Williams' 1980's rock/classical band of the same name.

To me that advert is just their lead pundit talking about what makes you fall in love with footy. Your dad taking you for the first time, the excitement and how the bug gets you etc. Could be any bloke talking about his first time.

I do think there is a kind of institutionalised bias at sky but think some are over analysing this advert.

At least its not redknapp talking about honest harry teaching him about brown envelopes at Bournemouth

Ted, the only thing that is "continuing" is you and OD shouting down anyone who points to media balance (although at least ODub has acknowledged there is some)
You make it sound above as if Sky immediately buried Aguero's goal and it never sees the light of day. Not so.
"All pandering to the Rags all the time" is plainly nonsense: how is the fiction of Rooney being off as recently as last week pandering?
I know you will win this argument on wordcount, and on the last word rule, but while there are knob heads in the press they are not universally determined that they suffocate us and feed the Rag machine. It''s just not that way. And Neville is quite a good pundit it turns out

And it should be just any bloke talking about his first match etc.

In fact, it should be a few tales of nostalgia. That would be nice.

But sky have appointed one of the most outspoken rag players as their chief analyst and co commentator. He is everywhere on sky now. He is good in his analyst position, but they weren't to know that. He got the job because of who is was.

And no matter how it is painted up, that ad is an ad for man united. Plain and simple. Or else I have learned absolutely nothing about how propaganda works.

The media/sky bias is pushed in the same way as the officiating. Small decisions that make you wonder. Over the course of the season they all add up to influence outcomes.

And the media helps persuade the neutrals and those who wonder, that everything is ok. That united have tradition, history, guts, glory and are trying to fight evil on all fronts.

Between the media and the officiating, they are one powerful machine to overcome. How we did it last season I will never know.

But I'm fucked if everytime another little snippet of bias lands under my nose I'll just play ball and pretend it's just the way it is... or at least all is how it should be. No way.

I want fairness. It may never happen, but that sure as shit doesn't mean I shouldn't keep asking for it.

I want no manager to be able to talk to/about officials before or during a match. Because I'm big and ugly enough to know humans influence other humans.

I want retrospective bans to be the same for each club and not at the hands of the media, who simply have to repeat footage again and again for an investigation to be launched.

I want goal line technology. I want every bit of technology possible that will enhance fairness without affecting the speed of the game. I want the ref to use a stop watch so every game gets 90 mins and not have *chuckle chuckle* good old fergie time.

A level playing field. From the pitch to the paper.

Anyone who thinks we have that is bonkers.

Ps. I want lou macari to stop breathing.
