Yeah I don't think they were that bad either. Not saying they had great games or anything but okish. The trouble is that with the formation we started with it's essential that the 2 wing backs plus Silva and Barry dominate midfield and create stuff.Sadly today Milner had a poor game,Silva couldn't get into it and Barry was all about the defensive role.

I do think Milner struggles with the wing back role. It's alright saying he can play it but he isn't well suited to it at all and I feel it takes away from his real game.Really strange that we do keep trying 3.5.2.I wonder if it's all Mancini's thinking or whether Platt or Kidd have something to do with it.

That clip of Platt explaining what they were supposed to be doing and sitting down in frustration said quite a lot. Mancini was looking to him as if to say 'Do these not understand what I've briefed, have you actually passed the message on'. Platt sat down quickly in a bit of a huff.

I don't think Platt likes it, as quoted in my reply to Doug above.

He probably doesn't, it's quite alien to these shores. It looked like Platt was explaining what Kolarov/Milner should've been doing, especially when not getting back to cover.

I don't think the 3 at the back was a major problem (although it doesn't suit us), it was more about the level of ability on the pitch this afternoon.

Roberto Mancini should be fired at the end of this season.

Plain. And. Simple.

This...... doesn't work anymore.
The most important thing for a forward is speed of thought. Top players read the game.

I was sat in the away stands with the Toffee's, I agree with their chants, we are not a team this season.

There is something fundamentally wrong with our squad, be it our manager or not it needs sorting ASAP, this is not how champions play.

Looked at the team sheet and immediate thought was along the lines of "well thats not going to win" and so it proved.

3 at the back needs ditching, Barry alongside Garcia never works, Kolarov cant defend so is a major liability away from home, and Milner isnt a wide player at all.

Bad formation and selection by the manager, piss poor application and performance by the players and the usual cut and past performance and result at Goodison Park. Hey ho.

Now here's the thing my photinia has had black spot forthe best part of 2 maybe 3 years now and despite some new leaf growth they soon die off. What was once a well established hedge is now thread bare and struggling. It's 6 foot tall but I think I'm going to have to cut the fucker down and start again.

I'n thinking of laurel hedging due to it's hardiness and ability to establish itself quickly in most soil types.

Oh yes and city are shit aren't they, I mean that doesn't go far enough does it, we really are wank we should start targeting Mancini like the Cheslsea fans do Benitez, yeah thats a good idea perhaps we souldn't stop there we should..........yawn yawn fucking yawn.

Crikey....we can't win the Premier League every season...remember when we played Gillingham in the Div3 play off final ?
Imagine being told we would finish 2nd in the Premier League 14 years later....I would have been 'in heaven' so to speak.
That season, we finished below Walsall in the league table !!!!
Some people have short memories, though I have already 'spat my dummy out' over being so far behind them, I'm over it now.
Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool are even further behind the leaders.
FA Cup semi to look forward to...come on the boys !

What the fuck has division 2 got to do with defending champions being out of the title race by February.

We are the worst English side ever in the group stage of the champs league, and look set to allow united the biggest points gap in premier league history, or for that matter top flight history, alo woth the poorest title defene in the premier league era.

So remind me again, why being shit and penniless in division 2 has any relevance at all to the manchester city of today. I accept we have had some bad times, but that has zero relevance at all to the current situation

With the resources we have at our disposal, we are, pound for pound, probably every bit as poor (relatively speaking on underperformance) this season as we were back in the dark days.

Anyone who can take any positives out of that display is deluded. We were and are a fucking shambles playing 3 at the back but no our super tactical genius of a manager keeps playing it.A point was made in commentary about the fact we had won our last four games without conceding a goal by playing with A BACK FOUR.I truly believe the only reason he went back to a 3 at the back was the fact Wigan beat Everton playing that system.Newsflash Bobby Wigan are used to playing that system we just can't end of.

This drives me crazy. With all respect it's not 1998. Please move on. The owners expect more now. The fans are no different. We are in a different place.
Our return this season as not lived up to expectations. Fact. Nothing will change that. Somebody has to be responsible.

Why can't it be a collective responsibility?

You and Judy should go find a campfire and sing kum ba ya or put on season highlights of 1998 to give you a warm cosy feeling that at least we aint that shit any more.

I can see why you would disagree with people's views, but rather than debate it, you in particular seem to just like to attack the person who posted rather than make any reasoned attempt to discuss the issue at hand.

You dont seem to have any views on what the problems are which have caused us to fall so far behind the team we beat to the title last year. Why dont you enlighten us.....do you believe its all Mrwoods fault too?

People who dont share your view are "bitter and twisted", only two or three posts above for one. And its far from the first time.

Seems to be your style, snide digs at posters you disagree with rather than actually partaking in a debate.

It won't be though will it ?

I recon Bob will still be here next season & I think that will be correct (unless we finish the season very badly, in which case he MUST go).

So Bob won't take responsibility. The suits won't take responsibility. The fans won't take responsibility. Most of the coaches etc won't take responsibility (but Bob will probably randomly sack one of the bootroom staff or similar & bring in an Italian, as seemes to be the norm), so that leaves the players.

So will the players who have been below par all take responsibility or will it just be Lescott & Kolo Toure, who aren't really responsible, who take the 'collective responsibility' ?

I wrote a preview a week or so ago predicting that the players will have little to play for in the league other than maintaining second place. As a result, we may see some lacklustre efforts. I present, this match as exhibit A.

Our midfield were absolutely terrible. 5 of them in there and they still couldn't pass to each other.

If he had matched Milner and Brry against the two Everton had we would have had a chance of a foothold, Everton away is simple to plan for, even more without YAYA, Get your foot in, Try to score an early goal and they will fall apart, Our manager seems to miss this every fucking time we pitch up at the hovel. His plan seems to be it will settle down and we will wera them down, That has not happened all season and once we concede WBA being a mad ending it has not worked.
