At least any England fans will be able to lay their towels in a nice quiet spot on the Copacabana. They won't be watching their team play in Brazil .

You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.

I think he was saying that England fans will be going to Brazil for a holiday, not to watch England play in the World Cup...

I really don't know. I've just had a look at the fixtures & results. To make matters worse, Ukraine still have to play San Marino home AND away. That's six points guaranteed for them. Any more dropped points could quite easily see England lying third in the group.

And Ukraine and Poland have less 1 game , but it's not because all that result u should be power in football but u really suck in game with Montenegro in second half .

Team "England" is all about milking the football fan. They will probably introduce new shirts soon because of the danger of not actually qualifying for Brazil.

The travesty that is Wembley and it's cost shows this.

The press have been hammering Hodgson since Tuesday, but the United players in particular let England down on Tuesday. Others too.

Personally, i think Hodgson is not up to it and i also think he doesn't care , because he can walk into retirement tomorrow with loads of money .

I have felling that English fans stop caring unlike all other big power in football and u are wright what rag did in Montenegro game was crazy bad , even Milner suck , But with almost half effort they should beat country with two players.

Wembley is better as a money-spinner than a fortress for the English football team for the powers-that-be.

Just got back from the qualifier between Sweden and Austria here in Vienna. Sweden lost but it was cool to see Zlatan in the flesh, first time for me.

Anyways, the game took place in Erst Happel Stadium, a stadium built in the twenties. After Anschluss and the incorporation of Austria into Germany as Ostmark, the stadium was used for the internation of thousasnds of jews, later deported to Buchenwald. Most of them died.

During the last moments of the game the audience started doing a chant where the clapped and sang "Sieg". And this was an international game, not a club one, so most of the people there were regular people (the football club-scene in this country is heavily infested by nazis and fascists). And they did a fucking mass exercise of clapping and singing Sieg at a place where a lot of bad stuff happened.

I fucking hate this country. The scum of the earth and Carl's employers live here. It is disgusting.

ps. Sieg without the Heil does not necessarily imply anything but I think the Austrians should perhaps watch out before using that word. Case in Point: a group of neonazis doing the sieg chant in the subway on the way home ds.

I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Yes, that chant always bugged me. The Germans do it as well. Did it during the Euros in Poland. Can't listen to their excuses anymore.

Well, when done in a concerted effort at a stadium it's no longer that fun. Adn regardless of meaning, mass chants that are focused around the word Sieg feel a bit tasteless. Especially in a country like Austria, who has not dealt with their nazi-past. And it wasn't like the crowd at Ernst Happel were all about lemonade and cupcakes before.

I have less of a problem with it when done by Germans actually, they dealt with their past. But it's still poor taste. Nonetheless.

Read the article now and yes, sums it up. It might be ever so harmless for some but it means a lot more. And by joining in that type of chant your condoning the behaviour of a lot of idiots.

And Heil means salvation - Victory salvation, totally harmless!
Read the article & you will see that the majority of the German national team 'supporters' are the ignorant ones here, tolerating racist & chauvinistic chants & nazi memorabilia among their ranks. It might not be as bad as in Eastern Europe or the Balkans with the racist & ultranationalist lowlives, but with the German past in mind, you'd expect some of the more sensible supporters to hound them out more vigorously.

For me, the "Sieg" chant is, while considerably more underhanded I admit, just as tasteful as doing airplane gestures at the derby.
