Sorry for spelling and not sure if the link works. It's a piece basically telling the rags to keep their head up after getting knocked out of the fa cup. Mentions how they stole our thunder in 2011 and are doing the exact same thing now.

It's basically a full "everything is going to be fine" message to all rag fans.

There you go mate. I mentioned yesterday that there were no stories of losing the [strike]treble[/strike] double with many of the stories alluding to what is written below. It's been obvious for a while that many of the media outlets are Rag bias and the below piece is just another in a long line of sychophantic bullshit that we have to endure.

Mission accomplished! Forget Man United's FA Cup exit, this season was ALL about regaining the title
2 Apr 2013 12:51
David McDonnell argues any other success would have been a bonus

Their Treble dream may have evaporated in the space of 27 days, with their respective eliminations from the Champions League and FA Cup.

But any sense of despondency and self-recrimination Manchester United may feel at those two setbacks will be soothed by a reminder they have all but secured their prime objective this season - that of winning back the title.

Last summer, on the first leg of United's pre-season tour in Durban's opulent Oyster Box hotel set on the Indian Ocean, Sir Alex Ferguson faced the world's media for the first time since the agonising title loss to Manchester City and set out his target for the season.

"It's simple," said the United boss. "We want to recover the title. That's our priority No.1 - to win the title back."

United's players have been ruthless in meeting that objective, winning a record 25 of their 30 Premier League games this season to open up a 15-point lead over City to take them to the brink of title No.20.

Reasserting their domestic supremacy, after losing in the most galling manner to City on the final day of last season, was always the target for United this term, with additional success on top of that a bonus.

One football cliche beloved of managers and players, particularly after a defeat, is that 'there is always the next game', yet in the case of United, set against the backdrop of Monday's FA Cup defeat by Chelsea, it is entirely apt.

Next Monday's Manchester derby at Old Trafford will give United the opportunity to turn the tables on City by doing the double over them this season and extending their lead to 18 points with seven games to go.

Were that to happen, United fans could also look forward to the prospect of all but clinching the title with victory at Stoke on April 14, to stretch their lead to 21 points, before City take on Chelsea in the second FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

United stole City's thunder in 2011, securing the Premier League title a couple of hours before Roberto Mancini's side ended their 35-year wait for a trophy with victory in the FA Cup, and history could repeat itself this season.

With their title coronation imminent, United and their fans must view this season as one of great success, despite the perceived injustice of their Champions League exit, with Nani's contentious red card, and the limp FA Cup exit at Chelsea.

United need 19 points from a possible 24 to beat Chelsea's record Premier League points total of 95 and have every chance of surpassing their own record winning margin of 18 points, set in the 1999-2000 season.

That would be the most emphatic response to City's title triumph last term and a reminder of United's enduring strength and powers of recovery under Ferguson, even though they have fallen short in other competitions this season.

Some significant additions to United's squad are needed this summer, along with some trimming of their current personnel, if Ferguson is to stand any chance of adding to his two Champions League wins before he evantually retires.

United have an accomplished nucleus of young players and an experienced core, which will be complemented by the summer arrival of Wilfried Zaha and other additions, as Ferguson looks to assemble a squad capable of one last tilt at European glory.

But, for now at least, United fans should revel in their reclaiming of the title and for ensuring they did not allow City to emulate Chelsea by becoming the only other club to successfully defend the Premier League.

This may not be a United side to stand comparison with the Double winners of 1994 or 1996, or the Treble-winning heroes of 1999, but they have met the challenge posed by City and shown they remain the team to beat, domestically at least.

Let's not forget folks, we are now in the build up to the Derby. It'll probably be wise to stay away from all media outlets as we'll be getting hoards of negative stories and the usual quotes from Bryan Robson et al telling us all how good they are and how we have no team spirit.

Be strong ;-)

The Daily Mirror is about as impartial as Red Issue so I wouldnt expect anything less.

Its derby week so the sundays will be full of "no team spirit" "City mercenaries" "Hart/Aguero/Ya Ya etc want out" and the continued Nobody really wants to sign for City mantra, that theyve been pushing since we dropped the lottery.

How to wind up the rag that you know? Point out that next weeks derby is more significant to them than us, as the Cup semi the week after is our top priority. Win or lose next week, we will still finish in a CL spot.

I always thought the Daily Mirror was a rag fanzine. A home for the sycophantic and spineless.

We'll probably get it for a couple of weeks as the London bases writers will be gunning for Chelsea for the semi.

What's new?

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

Dub,

This whole media thing with the rags has been going on since 1958 Mate, when the Munich disaster gave the rags the means to commercialise the national sympathy vote and the media had their human angle to milk it dry and use it as a tool to cement their circulation and audience figures.
It was at that time we all learned how great the Busby babes were and how they would have conquered the World.

It used to really get to me until I stopped reading and noting the shite. Ignoring it all is the reason I have retained my youth, good looks, charm and charisma. I understand you're stuck with what you got Ronan but take my advice pal. stay away from it, view all the idiots that believe it as (what they are) idiots...and maybe...just maybe...your Hernia will still think you;re attractive when your as old as me...:-)

In 1968, when we won the League, we lost the 1st derby of the season at Maine Road, after a good run of results. The next day, the MuEN commenting on the result stated that "Normality had returned to the World". Nowt new Pal.

Dub,

This whole media thing with the rags has been going on since 1958 Mate, when the Munich disaster gave the rags the means to commercialise the national sympathy vote and the media had their human angle to milk it dry and use it as a tool to cement their circulation and audience figures.

I'm always perplexed that the rags can take any reputation benefit from that disaster - they treated there own surviving injured like cunts as those not set for a recovery back to playing standard were simply sacked and kicked out of their club owned houses within months.
There are a couple of good books on the subject and it's often amused me to be able to lecture so called rag fans on what actually happened - the plane crash was an accident and a tragedy but the way that the scum treated their own crippled players was both deliberate and criminal.

The scum can take no honour from the munich crash and they deserve to be ashamed and humiliated by the way they behaved towards their own players in the aftermath.

PS. As example; Jonny Berry had played for the rags for 7 years but following the accident and his injuries he was taken off the payroll with almost immediate effect - they did let him stay in his club house and, though injured and traumatised, he took local work to support himself and was keeping his head above water before they snatched the keys back and kicked him out onto the street in 1960 (circa 15 months after the fact when it would be off the radar) and he was forced through poverty to return to his home town of aldershot so that he could be supported by his extended family.
From rag hero to broken man in less than 2 years and no financial support provided thereafter - that's the rags proud history for yer!
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.
