Ya ya Ya ya, Ya ya Ya ya ... Ya ya Toure!

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Ya ya Ya ya, Ya ya Ya ya ... Ya ya Toure!

Yaya has signed a new 4 year contract!

YAYA TOURE has today penned a new four-year deal at Manchester City - just like Sunsport told you he would this morning. I can reveal the towering midfielder has finally SIGNED a new contract worth around £11million a year.

It comes just two weeks after his agent Dimitri Seluk warned Manchester City that Toure was ready to quit the club in the summer unless they sorted out his situation quickly.

Toure, 29, had become increasingly frustrated as talks over a new deal had stalled for six months.

Yet the Premier League champions moved quickly to ensure they would retain their most influential star after the story appeared in SunSport.

The club’s directors have been in talks with Toure and his representative since the Ivory Coast star returned from international duty last week.

FIRST AGAIN ... how we broke news of Toure's deal in Thursday's Sun newspaper

They made it clear they had no intention of letting Toure leave and news of a new deal will give fans and boss Roberto Mancini a massive boost ahead of the derby with United on Monday.

New City technical director Txiki Beguiristain had a similar role at Barcelona when Toure quit the club three years ago.

Along with former Barca vice-president Ferran Soriano, who is now City’s chief executive, they knew they could ill-afford to allow one of City’s most popular stars to leave.

Toure is hugely popular among fans who appreciate his immense contribution to City’s success in the last three seasons.

The midfield ace had not asked for a pay rise but was bemused at the six-month delay in finalising a contract extension despite initially being told in July that a new deal would be sorted out by last September.

Can't be true. We had until 2 Saturdays ago or he was off.

His agent said so.

I am sure he left and we have a lookalike playing for us now. Kompany signs for a Spanish giant after the derby game along with Kun,Edin's off to Arsenal,Silva back to Spain and we are applying to join the scottish premier league.

Perhaps if the proposed Domestic FFP abomination gets railroaded in, that's an option we might consider.......but then again, perhaps not.....

However, as they say, there's many a true word spoken in jest.

Remember, nothing's official until you read it here - we’ll be first to bring you news of any contract renewals here on mcfc.co.uk.

Once said that, I'd be as surprised as if Messi would quit Barca... Top Clubs don't let their flag stars go.

I reckon he it's all done and dusted but in no way is it the salary quoted. A lot of our players salaries are made up of bonuses (finishing position in league(s) etc) and even with them it'd never reach that amount.

Lazy journalism.

And it's confirmed ...

Now on OS:

Yaya Toure signs new deal

Manchester City is delighted to announce that Yaya Toure has signed a new four-year contact.

The deal to keep the reigning African Player of the Year at the Etihad Stadium until 2017 was signed this afternoon.

Toure, who celebrates his 30th birthday in May, has been an integral and inspirational part of the Blues journey to FA Cup winners and Premier League champions.

He is excited by the prospect of extending his career at the club he calls home and for which he has already started more games than any other since making his senior debut for Beveren in 2001.

“This is where I want to be,” declared Yaya. “When I first arrived at City every time I went to sleep I would dream about us winning something; now it is about us being the best team in whatever competition we take part in.

“I will never forget how I have been treated here by the fans, the club and the owners and nothing would give me greater pleasure than to finish my career as a Manchester City player.

“I want to continue winning titles and trophies and continue to make history. I have enjoyed all of my time here and can’t wait for the next chapter. This is an incredible club to be part of with fans that support a team to the end whatever the circumstances.”

Having finalised the details of his new agreement, Yaya, whose glittering and lengthy CV includes a Champions League, two La Liga titles, a Barclays Premier League, an FA Cup and a Copa Del Rey (Spanish Cup), is determined to end the season with more silverware and then fire the Blues to new glories next season.

“Of course now it looks likely that we will not successfully defend the Premier League title and that is sad for all of us but we can still finish second and win the FA Cup for a second time in three years and that is still an achievement for a club that won nothing for a long time,” he declared.

“We must try to finish on a high note and then start preparing to win more next season! Football is always a challenge and always a puzzle to solve and that is why we all love the game.

“You have to use your skill, intelligence and strength to constantly improve and that is what we at City intend to do.”

Why do I get a feeling Seluk leaked it ahead of City's announcement? (Apart from the fact that I just don't like him)

But what does he actually do?

Strange to think that people were worried about this. There is no way we are going to let our best players go if we can help it.

Good news. The press can now obsess about his wages for the next few days - of course Chelsea and Utd's players play entirely for free, and for the love of it dont they!

Kompany on a 6 year deal, Ya Ya on a new 4 year one, Silva on a new 5 year one, Hart here for another 3 years plus - only Aguero now to sort out as City are notieably tying up our 5 crown jewell players, which these guys notably are.

bottom line is this was a must for the club.

he will certainly be fairly old and earning crazy wages near the end of the deal...however, with his skills he should still be a very effective player in the midfield even with a decline in pace. given that he's also a leader on the team, and by remaining here should help those who might be thinking of jumping ship to reconsider those thoughts, both add to the value of this deal.

next up...re-signing komps, i suspect.
