You can see O'Neill is tired. He has done all he can in football management without going to big club and/or managing major international team.

This was really the first time in his career he failed anywhere. He made the ridiculous mistake of going to team he supported himself. That always ends in tears in football management. You have too grand of dreams.

He is tired and too old to generate levels of energy as he once did. He needed good new people around him and to take more of an overseeing role. Cloughie did that but O'Neill didn't learn and is probably too hands on. The difference between a manager and coach. Dreams rarely come true, which is why they are dreams.

My hat off to Dave Milliband.... a self-confessed fascist - and the twat really is - at the helm of one most traditionally working-class Club is a joke beyond ridicule.

I still quite rate MoN, as a decent manager, despite this failure and his less than pleasant attitude towards City.

Its a tough one, i think his personal beliefs, no matter how distasteful should not come into any assessment of his ability to manage a football team. PROVIDED, he doesnt embarrass the club by publically airing those views.

I believe the Di Canio appointment was both considered and inspired. In football as a player and manager he has shown more integrity than opportunist politicians like David (ditch my constituents and off to the USA for loads lucre) Milliband. Where are his principles?

We all have our personal beliefs outside work. Why some seek to censor these is a path to intolerance and totalitarianism be it left or right or religous or whatever? Freedom of expression is a cornerstone of democracy. Di Canio is high profile. To date there is no evidence he has breached any laws nor shown any discrimination. He has a big enough job without this self righteous media generated fuss.

I'm not arsed about all the purile bullshit that is going on with regard to this appointment as to my knowledge he's never been charged with anything. Just a load of media nonsense to sell a story. It's a difficult one, isn't it? Do you allow the freedom to express a view to people whose views are that you shouldn't be allowed to express a view unless it's acceptable to society. I think they should be afforded that freedom, but I also think you should be free to criticise them for expressing it. However, I think the flak Di Canio is getting has more to do with the behaviour of the Sunderland fans on the last day of last season than anything else.
