To be fair mate, a lot of people have always rated Kolo, me being one of them. Mancini, however, chose Vince for that roll and we haven't looked back.

When we are bringing in the likes of Nasti on far lesser wages than the likes of Kolo and Joleon then you have to question whether the latter 2 have a place in the future. I like them both but if they are not prepared to take a drop then we'll be looking at much younger and much cheaper options who have the capacity to do the same or a much better job.

He has got great experience and is a winner.

I'm not CARL but in all honesty if we are going to ship one of the two out (on the assumption that likely Nasty/Vinny is our first choice CB pairing hereon in) then I would sell Joleon, re-sign Kolo probably along these lines and then look to bring in another young'ish player to compete for places.

Lescott is too good to sit on the bench, he's been great for us and deserves a good few years playing at a high level yet but he shouldn't be in the starting pair now that we have Nasty IMO. Give him a good move, keep Kolo for experience and great cover.

I disagree Anthony. We should keep them all. If there is any part of our game that is secure, it's our backline.

I would be very surprised if Rekik wasn't in the first team squad next year, which would mean two young left sided defenders with potential - I like Lescott a lot but I think he will be leaving in the summer.

It could be an option mate but I'm not sure if he's experienced enough, even to be a second choice. I only remember him playing one game for us and he's had a few games out at Blackburn where it's not the best place to learn your trade due to their current form and constant changing of managers. He may be one for the future as he's still very young and I think we'll go for somebody who as at least some experience in a first team.

We'll see.

I think you're right. Not sure how that stacks up with Marwood being seen as completely useless by some though.

aguero only just completed one year of a five year deal. nothing to sort out there.

Aguero signed a 5 year contract with us in Aug 2011. 2 years of which have now gone so he has 3 yrs left. Id wager he is the next player we tie up in the next few weeks/months, and yes it is something that will need sorting quite soon.

The key to the long contract on big wages is that it makes the price for any buying club quite prohibitive; we keep reading Barca want Kompany, but with 5 yrs plus left on a mega bucks deal, he would command a fee and transfer package of north of £35m, which Barca simply wont pay for a centre half.

Their standard tactic is to come in and plead utter poverty with a bollocks offer of around £15m, which wouldnt even get a foot in the door in the real world.

I think the real prize would be signing Tevez up. I hate the prick and have wanted him gone for a long time, but who in the entirety of world football brings all those qualities to the table like Tevez? Don't really want him at City, can't replace him.....decisions decisions.

Nail on head.

He's still only 29 so should be coming in to his best years. I'd get him signed for another two years and then tell him we'll let him go to the shit hole country he's been dying to go back to.

Great news about Yaya.

Need to give Barry a year or 2 extension and that way we can gradually ease himself out of being first choice into a very reliable squad player.

Mancini signed a 5 year deal in the summer, Kompany a 6 year deal.

There was a query about Hart by someone in this thread. Hart signed a new 5 year deal at the start of last season (Aug 2011) so no worries there.

On Tevez, in terms of pure talent then yes we should sign him up but his wages are large, he would need to want to stay in England - he should do for another 2 years but using his brain has never been Tevez forte. Another interesting dynamic is he was sentenced to 250 hrs of community punishment in England. He would require special dispensation I suspect to be allowed to leave the country permanently without having completed it, certainly at the very least a substantial chunk of it.

If we don't tie him up again in the next year, it strengthens his position to force a move if he chose to do so. With only 2 yrs left on his agent will know it alters things.
