James Milner

James Milner

Deserves a thread. Crikey even Sky managed to pick him man of the match.

Entered the realm of City hero today up there with Darius Vassell and Benjani. He's been magnificent all season and even carried the team at times all whilst playing right side of midfield.

and lets not talk about him playing two positions for England trying to make Glen Johnson look less of a liability than he is.

He may be resigned to Kevin Horlock status but he doesn't deserve to be. He's been immense

Another great performance at OT from Jimmy. Very underrated IMO and does the dirty work that goes unnoticed. Every team needs a Milner. Never spectacular but you know what you get with him. Works hard and never gives up.

Milner in the team is ok so long as we don't have Garcia, Maicon, and Kolarov in the same team. Too many average joes and we tend to get found out.

for me he's just ridiculously good and i'm saying that cos when he arrived I didn't want him replacing Stevie Ireland. in addition to yes but not replacing. The best thing about him (and Barry) is that the rest of world football just doesn't get what he adds to the team. Villa fans weep but no-one else understands why. some of the best money that will ever be spent in football

Smashing display tonight, mancini deserves credit too also bye packing the midfield and not allowing them to build a notable attack from the wing play.Nasri started ok but as the game went on started to hide as normall, but jimmy was the key tonight.

Milner was shite, Carrick had him in his pocket all game, infact on video review I am sure they will reserve the result based on the fact that City's goals should be disallowed for going in the net, Kompany will get a retroactive red based on the tackle on Nani during the FA Cup tie, and all City fans in attendance will be getting a 3 year ban for singing with intent.

Carrick wasn't playing was he? It's great when a player like jaws gets the bonus of a goal.He really deserves massive credit for his overall performance and it's not just about effort either. He's a real threat working openings on that right side which so nearly brought goals early on.His movement off the ball is excellent.

I am a little disappointed people see him as a workhorse and little else. I think he is an utterly fantastic player, he should be playing alongside Yaya every week with Barry filling in(although big fan of Barry's too), and think he is probably our best long range shot, Kolarov's freekicks aside.

I was delighted to see Milner get a goal tonight. For years I've thought he's a superb player who never gets the credit he deserves.

As others have said, he is NOT just a workhorse. He is disciplined defensively and a huge attacking threat for us. He was excellent when he was in the side last season until Mancini inexplicably stopped playing him from about Feb onwards (he was one of the stars of our 6-1 performance). This season he has probably been only bettered by Zab in terms of consistency. He should always be in the starting 11 in my opinion.

He deserves his day out at Wembley next week and a chance to shine in the cup final after we beat Chelsea.

If only he just had another half a yard of pace. Brilliant player who gives 100% wherever he plays.

Was it Milner who was last man when they counter attacked and he stood like a barndoor infront of Wellbeck? YOU SHALL NOT PASS. (Stream was a bit shitty so it could have been one of several players)

His best game for us. Not a huge fan but he was nothing short of brilliant last night.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

If all of our players applied the same sort of effort and work ethics as Milner we would be Champions League winners. He is probably the most under rated player in the league.

I am sure if he had a celeb wife, had his own fashion brand, pictured leaving clubs on Monday night and played for Chelsea he would be considered Englands best player. Fortunetly for England they finally have a manager who sees through all that bullshit and now picks him reguarly. If I was given the choice of swapping him with any other English player I would have a very hard time justifying it. Perhaps only Gerrard five years ago.

It's in neck and neck between him and Zabba for POTS for me. Both are not natural world class players but both have worked incredibly hard to improve as players over the past three season. Both are a credit to the club and sport.

The spine of our side - Hart, Kompany, Toure, Aguero is key to future sucess but Zabba and Milner are permanent key fixtures of our team now as well. Unlike some of our players they will never lose their hunger and desire. Keep those six players for the next five years and we will never be far away.

What do you think his best position is, down the centre or on the wing? I'm convinced if they can work on his acceleration he can make a top class winger that we need. He's our best crosser, offers great protection to Zabba and has great positional sense. If he just had the pace to skip past a couple he'd be a complete winger.

Thing I love most about Milner is that he will shoot.

All to often its frustrating when we are dancing about in front of goal and eventually it all fizzles out. Not James Milner, he puts his boot through the ball anytime he thinks he has a chance and has scored some beauties

Also never a game where he doesn't match our zab for effort
