summer business

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Maybe deals have been agreed, but out if respect both clubs have agreed to keep it out of the headlines so not upset the end of season run-ins or fans.
I think what Bayern did was out if order, whether that was on purpose or leaked. Dortmund's fans must be gutted.

Wasn't it Dortmund who leaked the news?

I was mulling over this when I was discussing the Bayern v Barcelona match the other day. My mate was asking why I thought City had had such a disappointing season, and I put it down to fecklessness and immaturity.

You see Bayern with serious players in every position - seasoned club and international stars who work hard - and you compare them to our lot and there's no competition. Some of my favourite City players, basically, are not good enough.

Hart - immature, flaky and unreliable. Full of himself.
Clicy - above average, but nothing special.
Nastasic - great prospect, but still learning.
Barry - slow and plodding.
Milner - graft isn't enough at the highest level.
Nasri - plays well when it suits him.
Dzeko - delusions of grandeur/importance. Sulky twat.
Lescott - clumsy and lives on his nerves.

Mancini - metaphorically working on a week by week basis.

Would City win anything if all our players were of their standard? I doubt it. When we have a team of Kompanys, Zabaletas, Richards', Agueros, Silvas, Tevezes and Yayas, then we can look forward to dominating at home and in Europe. But, as a proviso, a couple of those players often don't do it often enough - I'm thinking Silva nd Yaya.. Why can't Silva shoot straight?

Is Mancini a good enough motivator, and do his public slangings of players do more harm than good?

We need to up the ante this summer, and sod FFP.

Please tell me how Cheshire Today got hold of such a scoop!

Manchester City pursuit of Napoli frontman Edison Cavani is now almost certain to go ahead, despite late interest from Real Madrid.

Sources at the club say the striker’s arrival at the Etihad is a “done deal” and all that remains to sort out is the final transfer fee. City have offered around £30 million, but Napoli are holding out for a figure of closer to £40 million.

Personal terms have been agreed with the player set to match the club’s highest earners on over £200,000 a week.

City manager Roberto Mancini is desperate to conclude the deal early in the transfer window, believing that the signals sent out to Robin Van Persie during last years negotiations led to the player signing for United.

The fee for Cavani is likely to be partially recouped by the sale of either Edin Dzeko or Carlos Tevez.

Ha ha, God knows, let's hope they've got it right. Either way expect regurgitated versions from all the nationals within the hour and then from sites in Zimbabwe, pape new guinea etc all claiming exclusives LOL

It would be, but his wages may be going into someone else's pocket. Tevez won't command a big fee, but his wages are huge. I suppose FFP means Tevez will have go. I'd prefer us to extend him and perhaps add Cavani for Dzeko, who I don't rate at all. Maybe see if Guidetti can be the 4th striker.

So is kolo defo out then? I'd like him to stay, he's proved good this season albeit little appearances and is miles better than nasti. Obviously his current wage is ridiculous and I can see why he should be moved on. Couldn't he stay with lesser terms when his contract expires.

This might sound like a daft idea (it could well be a daft idea) but, after today's game, I was wondering if Andy Carroll could be converted into a centre-half.

He's big enough, fast enough, good in the air and his value is not what it was when he signed for Liverpuddle. On that basis, especially if Kolo has to leave because of his high wages, he wouldn't cost us an arm and a leg either transfer or wages wise.

Conceptually, I'm not in favour of a Plan B (if Plan A is failing, you make Plan A better, so it succeeds) but, in dire circumstances, he could be pushed up front and he could also be effective at corners, at both ends of the pitch. It would all depend on whether, or not, he has enough of a footballing brain to learn the positional requirements of defending and whether he could be taught to tackle.
If he could, it might be like buying two players in one - and he is English as well.

However, as I said, it could well be a daft idea.

On topic:
I just wonder what's wrong in investing few more quids than those spent on Rodders in order to compete on Goetze buy out clause.
It just seems we are reluctant only to bid on players who shall certainly make us step forward.

3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

If we are to buy Lewandowski can we please buy some wingers or nothing is going to change.Any solid winger will do.Him playing in these kind tactic will be same wondering araund like Edin .I wish i m wrong but i watch so many Borussia game this season hes just a bit different player .In all he needs a lot of ball he will spend 50% of them and only then hes effective .He will not get that much ball here not much cross or ball in space either ,.Cavani will be on other hand full hit for what we play fast good one on one and good with ball.
