I want both Villa and Wigan to go down but seeing as that's not possible, I'll just go for Villa. Benteke has injected some life into their side but they're sooo dull and boring and I hate watching them play

If they (Wigan) do, then Villa will be in big trouble unless they beat Chelsea.

If Norwich beat West Brom, Chelsea beat Villa and Wigan beat Swansea and Villa, then Villa will almost certainly go down.

The only things that could save them would be:

a) Newcastle failing to beat either QPR (a) or Arsenal (h), or

b) Sunderland failing win either of their final two games, against Soton (h) and Spurs (a).

It's entirely possible that Saints will lose their final two games (S'land [a], Stoke [h]) and go down, but Wigan wouldn't still need five points from their last three games and I just can't see them getting more than four.

As a relegation-threatened team, the last two teams I'd want to face on the final day are Arsenal and Spurs.

I feel like my head is on fire thinking about this. NUFC will surely win against QPR but it's not totally impossible that Sunderland will lose their last two games. If Norwich take their point at our place then that's it then, if I understand the table correct.

It's either Sunderland or Norwich.

edit

just looked at Southhamptons trend over the last five games, win, draw, draw, loss, loss. Hm.....

Sunderland's same trend is loss, win, win, loss, draw. However, their last loss was the huge loss against Villa. Those types of games tend to leave a mark.

I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Updated.

Can anyone still see Wigan getting out of this? I suppose if they beat Villa and either Norwich (possible) or Newcastle (improbable) lose both if their remaining fixtures, they've got half a chance.

I think they're gone, though.

I suppose we can remove Stoke, Fulham and Villa from the equation now.

That's pretty much what I predicted on the first page of this thread. Wigan really needed to get something from tonight's game. Can't see them make it now, but if they do it will be on Norwich expense.

I also think they're gone now but I also think Newcastle will not beat QPR so that will keep things interesting for the final day

If wigan have a saving grace, it's the fact that they play the FA Cup this weekend. seeing how the orhers above them have performed might just help them focus.

There you go - other than 'The Fight for 4th' or however Sky will market it, Sunday will probably be the most anticlimactic end to a Premier season ever
