The Sham of how the 31k is allocated...

Postby Nick » Sat May 04, 2013 9:05 am

Could someone please enlighten me?

So we have 31k for the final, the same as the semi.

We have around 31k season ticket holders.

Yet its sold out before its go to my allocation of around 3,300.

How can this be?

Supporters clubs getting bucket loads? People buying more than one?

Now personally, a girl I know in londong has got me club wembley tickets through her work (Which to be honest I don't agree with), but some of my mates and dad are left out. I'd also planned on swapping the club wembley ticket, as I want to SING, WEAR MY SHIRT, AND GENERALLY BACK MY TEAM IN an FA cup final. Although third tier in one of the corners was a JOKE for the Semi by the way, all sat down in silence, so I pissed off and we went and stood elsewhere.

Doesn't the 31k include tickets for club officials etc, so probably 30k at most for fans. Plus there were some kids tickets available for kids with seasons tickets when their parents had enough points. Not sure how many that was.

More to the point, why is there only 31k tickets available in a 90k sweater stadium? Disgrace of a place. I only wish fans would boycott it at some point. Never going to happen for an FA cup final, but maybe it should for a Community Shield.

Whilst it does seem like a harsh allocation, it does only seem fair that all the sunday league referees and other people who make grass roots football happen should get some recognition for what they put in to make it happen all season (other than £15 subs and a bucket load of abuse) The honest answer is that there is no perfect way of keeping everyone happy and paying for the stadium. This is probably just the least shit way of doing it.

Explain? I know countless blues that gave the semi a miss, yet are all of a suddent up the final. With supporters clubs giving numerous tickets out so the whole family can go...

Football is at the dogs, and wembley needs real blues that will support the team. Not corporate/non fans and 'new' plastics that will sit in silence, the kind of fans that were telling me to sit down and stop singing in the semi...... What a joke going to City has become.

Basically you have to be a season ticket holder and on the relevant cup scheme. Agree with boycott of Charity Dhield, just a glorified pre season friendly

Have you considered that some people can't afford the aprox. £150 that it costs twice within the space of a month and have decided to cut their cloth accordingly?

Also if you're such a superfan why didn't you just sign up for the cup scheme and then you'd have got a ticket without having to go club Wembley

Or too many fans that where more switched on than you were? Maybe they should cater just for you.

Wasn't on the cup scheme, still got tickets through normal channels.

If some didn't 'bother' with the semi, that means others got the chance doesn't it? It's not as if we're desperate to fill the seats these days.

Because I live and work in York? Moving back next month or I may have.

But while were at is, what is the cup scheme? £50 just to get tickets? When every single fa cup game were available 2 days before? What is the point? Did we even sell out pre the semi? I still went to the Leeds and Barnsley games.

I've been able to go to week matches and away matches, hopefully I'll change this next year.

However Im a bit sick of plastic fans. I'm no superfan, but when I go to a game I like to support the team and not pretend im in the cinema. Luckily away games are largely the opposite of this, as the plastics stay at home.

Young dinosaur at 24 by the way ;)

The fact you went to the home cup games anyway makes it even more ridiculous for you not to sign up. It costs nothing and you get discounted prices. The 50 quid is for platinum which has no bearing on cup scheme.

You should defo read the small print next season as you'll probably save yourself a few bob

Ah, my ticket is platinum though ( I didnt want platinum but my dad and mate got them). The cup scheme is actually free?! Surely not? I didn't look at is as being in York I didn't think I'd get to many cup games (coming back to manc for the weekend for City actually made some matches start to feel like a chore!)

EDIT: I'm not being lazy, but do you actually have details of the cup scheme? As I can't find anything on the site as we can't renew yet.

I couldn't get tickets for the Stoke final so just assumed you either needed crazy points or/and be in cup scheme. And I assumed the cup scheme was like the scums? I.e. you opt in and have to buy tickets to every cup game? Being in York, there was no chance of me getting to every cup game. Does this include the league cup? I missed WBA and Watford.

You can opt to join the scheme for whichever competition you want, and yes you do have to buy the ticket for the games, but think of it like this....

Your tickets are pegged to a reasonable price £20 I think upto the quarter finals, so its not like you are paying full dough for a game you might not want to make the journey for. You get double loyalty points, and no hassle getting tickets for the final.

Even if 3rd, 4th and 5th round were all at home and games you didn't want to make the journey for, you would e £60 out of pocket but at the front of the queue for final tickets and racking up double points too. Reality is that on average, out of those 3 games, 1.5 would be away from home meaning your max cost 'wasted' per season would be approx £30.

But last year we drew united in 3rd round which you would have gone to I assume?

Two fa cup finals in 3 years suggests where the clubs priorities lie (eg, not the league cup) I think people are mad not to be in it to be honest.

Plus every team who entered the Cup get a pair - that's over 1,500 there, too.

In comparison, Dortmund get 24k for the Champs' League final, without any of the tickets going to legitimate football patrons.

I can't understand why any neutral would want to go to watch the final. The tickets should be split 50/50 between supporters of the two finalists. After all isn't that who the final is for?

Really?

The pair of tickets are a big source of revenue for smaller clubs. They often organise social nights with the main draw (as well as some minor name after-dinner speaker) being a raffle with the tickets on offer as the main prize.

If the final was between Chelsea and Wigan, and I dedicated my spare time voluntarily to the game as a referee and viewed football primarily through the eyes of an objective neutral, and not as a fan of a particular club, then yes, I believe I would.
