I do think that we can pin this loss on Bob. He's not as defensive minded as some make him out to be but this game he showed his cautious side and that lost it for us. The people he brought on to the pitch should've perhaps havre started. Well perhaps ot Rodwell but deffo Milner. Silva has clearly not been on form the last months and should've come from the bench. He made the right move by replacing a forward with a midfielder in order to move up Yaya but it was pretty clearly the wrong forward who came off. Tevez had been such a positive force in our play while Aguero, though trying as hard as he ever does, clearly didn't bring enough to our attack this game.

But he played it safe. He likes Aguero and Silva and and routinely picks them despite their form. Today this was probably a mistake.

I mean, it's always easy to say afterwards who should've started and not but I for one was pretty disappointed that Silva was in the staring line-up instead of Milner. I love him but he hasn't been producing in the last few weeks. It must be ok to bench a star player sometimes. As for Aguero, well it's hard to predict nowadays what you get from him, except 100 procent effort. But I would have liked to be able to look into Bob's mind when he chose which forward to sub when it was pretty clear that Tevez was having a much better day than Aguero.

This is not a Bob out post, this forum is a bit over dramatic these days. I'm just judging him on today's game and it wasn't a good one for him.

Lastly, great game from Wigan. We can play shit and still win, we've proven that countless times over the last three seasons. They however played great today. 100 % effort and energy. Their teamshape was spot on most of the times and they had our midfield in their pocked for most of the first half. Congrats.

I've been sat here not knowing what to write. It could have been a paragraph of swear words, a sentence on how gutted I am, a thesis on why Bob should or should not go.
But I think it came down to Wigan wanting it more. The manager wanted it more. The players wanted it more, even the chairman wanted it more.
You can't compare fans feelings towards the cup as we witnessed today, we are all gutted and they would have felt the same if the show was on the other foot.


I'm now thinking what next though. I don't know whether to be worried or happy that things will change.

Expectations are high now though. With the players we have, the expectations are deserved. To get to a final and not win it is gutting and no one would want to be here.
We all knew today was going to be tough, but I thought we would win by one or two goals.
