I put in for the Altrincham job, got two nice letters one to say they'd lost my application the second to say thanks but no thanks - there was a small square ad in the MEN

That will be the Malaga who did much better than us in the CL this year and if it was not for two horrendous referee decisions would have put out a side that made us look like a league one side on two occasions.

Would you prefer it if we'd waited a week, then sacked Mancini and then started approaching replacements? What happens when Mourinho takes Chelsea, Ancelotti Madrid, Pellegrini PSG and Mancini Monaco? Do we turn to Martinez? Or maybe start tapping up Redknapp?
If you bothered to read what wrote, then you would see I never mentioned anything about timing.
I was merely commenting on the way the situation has been handled.
But to answer you question, no is the answer. I want them to move fast, but I also stand by the principle that Mancini should be the first to know if he loses his job and not be told by 100's of media twats.

What more can Twitter tell us?
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"
"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

I think this was written last summer after Bobby negociated with the russian national team and was almost appointed. Remember what happen after that?
He asked for Hazard, the rapist and de Rossi.
He got Sinclair, Garcia and Rodwell.
The board gave him another season to prove himself, but this time they refused to spend really big and bought player that weren't good enough and imho, they would have sacked him after that Champions League campaing.
At this moment, imho, both sides are to blame. The board because they are doing this shite of PR and Bobby, because he doesn't understand that he fucked up and made to many mistakes.

I think Ross best expressed my sentiments on this one.
There just invariably is no "nice" way to get rid of one manager and sack another. Realistically, in terms of quality/reputation/profile we are looking at maybe a pool of 20 guys worldwid who we would really be interested in. It's the same as players. There is just invariably no way that you can feel out, discuss, negotiate something like that with the incoming manager and/or his club before that leaks out and then ppl put 2 and 2 together and get the facts about what is going to happen.
I am absolutely certain that the club were going to fire him last year if Aguero hadn't scored and I think he knew that was going to happen hence the AS Monaco or Roma or whoever negotiations from his side. But we then won the league and he's a hero and he gets a new contract.
There no nice way to do this. Abramovich in some ways did the "nice" thing with Benitez which was to clearly manage Rafa's expectations and supporters expectations and have a planned management change. But then everyone says Roman is a cunt because he's not giving Benitez a fair shot at winning the job for keeps.
Now there are those of us who can clearly remember that he had somehow managed to fuck up managing us to what should have been a cakewalk of a league title in January.
I do not know why he cannot seem to prepare and motivate the team for what should be "gimme" games. I know there are no walkovers in the PL but under Mancini we have repeatedly fucked up in some games which were bankers. Add to that the two abject CL campaigns, the fallout with Tevez (which, let's face it, could at the time have cost the club over twenty million quid in lost asset value), his (in my opinion) absolutely piss poor man management on numerous levels and I can see why the club want a new man and I can agree with them.
I, like Ross, don't particularly care how they do it (and, frankly, I'm sure that when Roberto is enjoying an espresso at a pavement cafe in the autumn sunshine in Rome several million Euros richer and once his wounded ego has repaired itself won't care too much either, he knows how the modern game works and he's a tough character) as long as the new guy is a clear and tangible upgrade.
I want to see the new man bring out improvements in those who could do a lot better (either by virtue flat performance standards, age or lack of opportunity/injury) and by that I mean:
Hart
Nasri
Rodwell
Guidetti needs to be given an extended run in pre-season and then he should either be in the first team squad proper next season or we should sell him.
Dzeko we either have to have the players and deploy a system that suits him or he should also be sold.
I'd like to see us more regularly try some of the youngsters next season too...i think some seem almost ready Rekik (has he been injured btw not heard of him for ages? Or is he out on loan) Lopez, Pozo too when he's fit

ZonaZooBlu wrote:Isn't this the same Mancini that stayed at Cook's house a few days before Hughes was sacked and he was appointed? He should stop whining about how the club should say something and take a hard long look at himself.
This is a excellent point. Was he not even spotted in the crowd at the Sunderland game whilst Hughes was standing on the touchline and we were all reading about his sacking?
He said it himself the other day, this is the nature of the game. Like it or not.
Mancini will walk off with his reputation enhanced, he will always be remembered for his contribution to City and has the best wishes of 99.99% of city fans. Not to mention few million euro's in his pocket and be glad that he never has to face the weather in the North of England again any time soon. He will be back in a plumb job in no time and it really would not surprise me if he already has another gig lined up and this has all been a charade.
I also expect to see him standing on our touchline managing Chelsea one day.

As I have stated else where I am not in favor of sacking Mancini, however given this current circus there is now going to be an enormous circus every time we lose a game next season and you may see more performances from our players similar to yesterday.
The club are not helping by saying nothing. Back or sack. The middle ground could be a disaster if we are sitting talking to managers who might replace him in the middle of next season.
Hughes suffered a similar fate as the board sat and undermined him by talking to replacements while he was still in charge. It cost us a place in the CL that year while we threw point after point away when it was clear he was going at some point in the future.

Do you recall Fergie saying a) I am not retiring b) Wayne Rooney will be at United next season.
We were also told to believe that Moyes had no idea he was going to be the United manager til last week.
Don't believe a word that comes out of anyone in football.
