People seem to forget where we were 5 years ago, and to come as far as we have under Erikkson, Hughes and then Mancini since we were bought over is a wonderful achievement. Mancini took the club that extra step and won our first silverware in decades, not only this but also masterminded the 6-1 destruction of the scum in the swamp and also enjoyed a repeat victory the following season...what other manager in the modern game can say that?
His persistant and stubborn fannying about with 3 at the back at the start of the season ended out European hopes, which was the catalyst that lost him the dressing room and derailed our season....but surely he should have been given the opportunity to learn from his mistakes and granted another season, I doubt he would have repeated such experiments at such high cost.
Alas, now we'll be resigned to employing another 'quick fix' manager who won't be given the time to plant his roots into the club. One step forward, two steps back.

Thank you Roberto.

Mancini never ever learned from his mistakes.

His ultimate downfall

I don't really think people who say he should be happy he's got a pay off understand. I imagine the money is pretty irrelevant to him.

I feel quite saddened by this news and feel that the way it was done by City is disgraceful. This isn’t the Manchester club that was supported by loyal fans through the dire times in the lower divisions. It seems to be becoming a heartless and ruthless juggernaut of branded marketing. Take the recent survey emailed to City season cardholders:

We would like your help in answering a few questions about a new product that is being considered. Manchester City would like to find a way to let its fans worldwide feel part of a global community of supporters. To do this, we are planning to create a new membership programme that would really put you at the heart of the club.
To help us understand what you think, we have put together a survey , which will take you around 10 minutes to complete. We would really value your feedback. As a token of our appreciation, we've got a limited edition City watch to give away to one fan who completes the survey. Ten runners up will each receive a 2012/13 First Team squad postcard.

Local supporters who regularly attend matches will become less important to the club as they harvest plastic fans around the world in an attempt to match United's world-wide following

what a load of after-the-event total bollocks. bob wasn't fussed that he took over under very similar circumanstances, and if you've only just realised that you're a commodity, then it's time to talk to sid and buy some british gas shares.

Relieved in all honesty. His spoilt child antics were pissing me off.Shame we never made the move when he started the Marwood bollocks last year. A season lost in our progress imo.IMo we've got some pretty sensible people runnin this club. And I'm not worried about the new manager. Stuart Pearce could fucking manage with 300 million quids worth of players. Interested to see how the lads do under Kiddo in the next two.Bet there will be a few more smiles around which will be a start.

My reading of that is that Mancini was not interested in the bigger picture and only interested in getting results for him. Lack of youth promotion, moaning about transfer targets, unhappy players.

Fucking disgusted with how this has been done. Deserved at the very least a final home game and a proper send out, this does nothing for fan relations.

We fucked Hughes over but no one cared because it was Hughes and now we're doing the same thing again. Pathetic and we deserve all the stick we'll get.

Embarrassing.

If the board had already decided that they were going to sack him then how could they let this mess drag out for a whole week? The club has already been heavily criticised for not making a statement over the weekend so leaving it until after next Sunday would hardly have been great PR would it? Once rumours about the approach for Pellegrini had been leaked (something which was beyond the club's control) the writing was on the wall for Mancini. His outburst after the cup final hardly helped his cause but I think he knew it was over by then. Hearing a lot of reports that he had lost the dressing room which is why he was sacked.

Piss poor from Citys point of view.If you consider the work he has put in changing the whole mentality of the club and bringing a cup and a league title he did not deserve to go the way he has.

dont get why this was done now. sure, people were clamoring for the board to make a comment
on the Mancini rumours but i dont think this was it.

i dont mind the sacking but do it when the season is over. what is the advantage of doing it now?
