I feel sorry for him, but he's a long way from hard done by.
When things were going well his bizarre man management "skills" could be excused, but once results and performances became regularly disappointing it became harder and harder to ignore his favouritism of Balotelli, his public criticism of players, his petulant, sulky attitude, and his team selections, tactics and substitutions. Add to that disastrous Champions League campaigns, a timid title defence, a shocking exit from the League Cup and an unforgivable Cup Final no-show.
This season's highlights were few and far between, with only the derby victory standing out - we used to win derbies with Championship (second tier) standard players. It's been a poor season however it's dressed up, and City fans can't forever be snivvellingly grateful because it's not as bad now as it was in 1998. We're either going to be great, or we're not.
