It also produced players who were fucking clueless at how to play in a Premier League team, riddled with bad habits & lacking in football discipline (& sometimes in life).
The academy system, rather than lacking resources, had enormous resources compared to the previous system yet the previous system produced higher quality players.
We are now in the process of creating a top level academy that actually does what it is supposed to do. If it works, it will be one of the few in this countrywhich does, as the whole academy system has so far been a fucking disaster, leading to people like Danny Wellbeck playing for England.

Give me one reason why Cassell shouldn't have been in charge of putting together that new Academy?

The good Lord giveth, and the good Lord taketh away. Or something like that.
Anyway, you either want the big time or you want the old times. It can't be both.
I rely on logic not faith, sorry.
Logically, no club making the huge changes we are making over the last few years can do so without casualties and decisions fans are likely to disagree with. Logically, it's tough shit.
Whining and looking for every reason to join in the rag top bashing before you know the full story is blind faith in Mancini and is completely illogical, so either balance your faith or your logic.

That's it right down to a tee. He did amazing things with shoe string budget. Anyone who genuinely don't get it either wasn't there, don't understand the situation we were in or is on a wind up just for the sake of it. He deserved the chance what he could do with proper budget. He was one of the few people at the club when Sheik (bless him) took over who genuinely knew what they were doing.
I think we are making another mistake letting this guy go. Current Academy people aren't really producing results on the field or as far as player developement goes eventhough they get kids brought in from all over the world unlike when Cassell was in charge.

Amen.
And to think it's seen as yet another reason to have a go at the best owners in the country... possibly the world. How dare they push us towards the summit of world football. How dare they make changes to ensure this happens. No matter how many changes they feel need to be made. How dare they.
Have some fucking respect for the ones who are really making the difference before you start calling for it for anyone els effs.

haven't we won everything at under 14 level this year and have a large number of academy kids playing at an age group or two higher than they are.
The new guys have planted some very promising seeds IMO and we will reap the benefits in 5 years time

Who the fuck exactly are you having a go at then? What the hell are YOU on about.
Get over it. Get over yourself for once. And for God sake get rid of that unusual horn for Jim Cassell

I'm still waiting for these superstar youngsters who were promised when Cassell was pushed aside to some mickey mouse job waiting for his eventual sacking.
Which superstar youngsters came through under Cassell?
Classify them as you like; some of these like them or hate them are better prospects then we seem to have now:
Shaun Wright Phillips, Joey Barton, Stephen Ireland, Nedum Onuoha, Daniel Sturridge, Michael Johnson and Micah Richards

I don't think for a second that good Sheik himself gave Cassell his marching orders. Or even Khaldoon. They aren't REALLY running that side of the operations.
Casselll deserves credit and praise for the job he did for us during tough times. I for one am not going to pretend that we were always where we are now.

Flitcroft was a product of the old system, along with Lake, Hinchcliffe, White, etc going all the way back to Paul power himself (who has also been sacked) Peter Barnes, Mike Doyle etc etc. The rags also found (or pinched) the likes of Scholes Beckham Giggs etc.
Liverpool produced people like Gerrard, West Ham Lampard etc. Now it's Johnjo fucking Shelvey, Carlton Cole, Tom Cleverly.
Whole system was introduced by fucking pen pushers & has been nothing short of a disaster. I used to be sold on it until I really thought about it due to a discussion on here some years back, then realised that what I was watching at that level 40 years ago, was better by far than what I was watching ten years ago .
Now there is a big shining light at the end of the tunnel.
