We owe Bob an FA Cup & a title & some fantasic memories. This season though showed that we have a lot of work to do & we already knew the academy plans etc; the powers that be have decided he wasn't the bloke to take it on.
If the next manager isn't upto it, he will have to go too. We'll fix it eventually though.
The owner is the one who has made this possible for us & so long as he is behind the club, if we get behind the club, it will continue to compete at the top.
We can argue about managers & players & become fond of them but we know for sure now, that they will just come & go, & there is fuck all we can do about that.
Onwards & upwards. City.

We need to move on, City fans more than a lot of others should be able to do this in their sleep ffs.
We didn't ask for Bob to get the boot. But we did wonder what was behind some very poor efforts this season.
We didn't particularly ask for a Catalan mafia to move in, but then as very successful management of football infastructure we kind of realise they should be a good team.
We dont know what goes on behind the scenes we just endlessly speculate, mostly about what we want rather than any kind of reality.
I think we just need to accept and trust Khaldoon's judgment that despite being the most successful manager in fuck knows how long with a win percentage better than our last successful management team, despite grabbing the title last season and giving life long blues something that they will never ever forget... kind of on a par with the clouds opening in celestial light and a big voice softly calling our name... it was that good.
You could argue after giving a 5 year contract they should have sat down with Bob and told him he had to be more collegiate, less abrasive and find persuasive ways to cajole those around him and players.
In other words put him through some training... try to reform him, tell him bluntly he isn't always right and he need to learn that along with some humility at times.
But that sounds a bit far fetched doesn't it.. and one thing has been clear this season the spark and commitment was dwindling rapidly.
Personally i liked Mancini even if he hadn't won the title, I saw what he did when he arrived to make a unit out of the team and progress with order from the defensive set up to the midfield and on to the front. Simple but intelligent and the right way to do it. As he took us to the Cup and the Title he entered into that room at Comms where they store all the old legs. But he only got the door open.
Despite all the plusses for being a top football manager etc etc, blah blah, yes and stubborn enough to force success. It is more than likely that his attitude and persona were seen by the upper management, Khaldoon and the Owner as a STRUCTURAL PROBLEM.
Just like engineering a structural defect has to be sorted out, no amount of messing about round the edges will sort it.
All I can say is that it is a shame, like others I wanted Bob to succeed but putting 2 and 2 together I can see that ultimately as has happened he had to go.
For some this will probs remain inexplicable, and i've written this to try and put a sensible slant on it.
My own beef about all this was the nature of it and the farce that was allowed once again to develop in the press and media, City still have a lot to learn to get that stuff right. A bit of a bad taste about that, but hey we are Manchester City. Champions in 2012, a lot of fucking brilliant players, solid owners committed to the future who will build the academy fit for the team and the long term future.
Remember the talk of the long haul? the transformation of the club into a power in football?
Takes time does that and we going there, get back on board and start looking forward again.

Now, you see I do think he has the right.
It's becoming clear as fucking daylight what was going on behind the scenes at the club with the manager and the players. And before anyone says its news to them that Mancini had alienated half the club, some people have pointed this stuff out since day 1 for example how Bellamy's injury situation was managed, ffs, he was even photographed scrapping with his own prodigy!
Yet we have people on here, and more worryingly - at the game last night spending all their energies yearning for stability, saying Mancini would have brought further greatness, singing about a bloke who gave us no fucking stability at all as the truth starts to emerge. It was cringeworthy to hear people singing his name, and city fans in general, (and that means all of us) are going to look a right lot of cunts when the shit really starts to hit the fan with the stories of what Mancini got upto with the players over the coming weeks.
I'm all for praising him for winning us trophies we hadn't seen in 2 generations - but outright refusal to accept that our owners have exercised their right to choose the best steward for our club, and criticism of the owner/board etc when it's not just mancini who brought those trophies, it's the leadership of the owners and executives, is really embarrassing to the club.
Everyone needs to put this 'stability' bollocks far behind us - we aren't 1990's city, we are a professional, well run club.
Rant over, but seriously - everyone move on, get behind the new manager whoever it turns out to be, and lets win some more fucking pots

Obviously several thousand at Reading last night hadn't moved on had they?

They are moving on just like the rest of us. They just had decency to show final appreciation to manager who brought us FA Cup and League Title. Brought smile to my face and made me remember why in the end of the day we truly are best supporters in the land and all the world.
Pure class all over.

It's one way of looking at it
The other way of looking at it, having seen people defend the undefendable on here and amongst my mates when it comes to Mancini, is that there is a very significant number of city fans who would back adolf hitler to stay on if he was our manager, just so it brought us this fabled stability that we apparently need above players who are prepared to play for the manager.
Not 10 minutes ago, someone posted on a FB group i'm a member of, in response to the story about medical mismanagement "I liked him, he brought me my first trophies in my lifetime, he deserved another year" - completely missing the point that he has seemingly alienated half the fucking squad - what on earth he thinks he would have done in another year with a squad that didn't like him is beyond any sort of explanation I can provide.
The thing is, I know he was your man, and you've been fairly circumspect about it all - but honestly, some blues are just plain fucking thick when it comes to our managers (an argument you and I once agreed on 4 years ago).
We will soon see whether it was singing his name out of respect - because I guarantee it will happen again at weekend.
