Can't believe we're moaning that a player who scored the winning goal was too far forward! No pleasing some people.

So captain can play in any position is that how its working ??

I didn't get that, did you?

i'm hopeful i'm wrong but even Rekik didn't look like he's got the skills to ever play first team football for us, and the rest were even less impressive. Granted it's a friendly, but this is your chance to unpack your locker and rock out with your cock out, is it not? Maybe i'm making too much of it....but none were impressive in any fashion from what i saw. And yes, i watched the match.

I think the equivalent basketball term is 'full court press': we were forcing Chelsea, as a unit, back towards their own penalty area, so we were naturally committing more of our (nominally) defensive players forward.
I only saw the last 20 minutes or so - although I've taped the game - but it looked a cracking match

Huws was involved in two of the goals (& one of Chelsea's) & looked as if he was settling very nicely indeed to me, once he got the pace of the game. Not quick but strong tackler who can pass.

Rusnak is a strange choice to be there at all and not in my top 20 City kids.

The academy definitely does need sorting, and I do think the first step of that was getting Patrick in there instead of Lombardo, who accounts had no idea what he was doing.

I know the money men are in control these days but that is a step too far.

not sure I would want him in accounts, to be honest ... not sure where I would put him ... as by all accounts he has no idea what he's doing.

I know it was just a meaningless friendly but my word some of that defending was championship level. Is the new shirt effect already kicking in?!

Perhaps it's the Pellegrini effect already showing its head ......or a step back in time to the Keegan factor i.e. who needs a defence when we're going to score at least four goals, in every game.

Don't know why there's such a high level of negativity towards the EDS players in this thread.

Rekik - Solid. could have been positioned better on a few occasions but held his own. Unfortunate to have Mata dive and give up a penalty.
Rusnak - Put in a few strong tackles to win the ball back and came into his own in the second half. Had one or two early mistakes, but overall kept posession well and fit into the team.
Huws - Was weak in the move that lead to Oscar scoring Chelsea's 3rd goal but also was involved in a few of our attacking moves. Probably the weakest out of the bunch but not as bad/anonymous as some of Chelsea's youngsters.

The new young players didn't mark themselves as future superstars, but for the most part held their own. Internet supporters are shit. Only on here can a decent showing make people curse our EDS team and academy setup. Fuck off

No idea where the criticism for Rekik is coming from...

Hart was atrocious for the first goal.
Poor young Chelsea keeper.
Milner's pass for the 2nd was outstanding as was Javi's header to Micah for the winner.

We looked like Barca vs Chelsea in the CL last season. They were sitting with the hand brake firmly engaged
and defending with 8-9 in the box
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.
