I hated Hughes when he was here, but thought he got a rough ride over the timing of his sacking - I honestly think they sacked him just in case e won the clubs first silverware (league cup) and they had to keep him.
I don't think he would have done any worse than Mancini did over the remainder of that season.
But he was sacked to make way for a different type of coach and the club moved forwards.
He strikes me that he could again be a good manager if he is told to manage with the players he has, and forage for new ones, really analyse them. I think he loses focus once he gets money behind him, and unfortunately for stoke I reckon they are gonna back him in the transfer market
