Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Can I just say that the majority of the Rag players were very poor and put in little effort. From that I'd suggest Baines is nailed on to be a Rag player next season, he's got all the traits.

I could push Johnson at right back and im shite!

In truth Micah and Kyle Walker should be England's right back selections no question

Like most, I seen Micah as a CB but his change under Mancini showed that he can be a real player from the RB role. He's immense and would piss all over them whether we are talking defending or attaking. I think the game against Chelsea showed his attacking intent (which is what Johnson and Walker are there for) but he's got other attributes that should push him well in front of them 2.

Johnson was laughably poor.Jones not much better but somehow he is flavour of the month/year and will probably be the right back for a long time.

Can't think what you mean as Jones is the best player in the world. Maybe he should be center back is probably what you mean :)

The thing for me about Jones is that he is a decent player and he can do an ok job in various positions but of course the media/pres or whatever do go overboard about him.Conversely we City fans laugh at him and make out he is just a comedy gift and a useless footballer. He is neither great or rubbish.

Yes it's wrong the way "they" go on about him but that's life and that's what we have been used to for a long time about all sorts of players.Did I hear that Milner got some stick after the game when as usual I would be praising him for his workrate and key part in shrek's goal."they" will say he was lucky to retain the ball before laying it to shrek but then say Rooney was brilliant even his shot was poor and got deflected in.Typical but who cares as long as we win the league and cup double next season.

I agree.

I will always want England to win and do well. They may be crap, but I won't stop wanting them to win. I'll even watch them play shit and support them because they are representing my country.

Stupid question really!

Good man. I just cannot understand those who say they cannot support their national team, whichever team it may be.

What I don't understand is those who come into an International match thread to tell everyone in there how they don't like them and don't support them. What's the point of it?

Exactly.

Complain about them if you're not happy with the play, but to say you don't support your national team and display it here doesn't make sense.

America beat Germany today. A complete joke but whatever. I have a soft spot for England. Unfortunately for England you play like that soft spot is my taint. I hope you win almost always but your team is full of cunts. And your manager is a creature from the Dark Crystal.

Cheers

That was a good German lineup as well, not their strongest but should have been strong enough to get the job done, nice win.

I dunno about good but they surely had enough to win. The US team is like Sparkys Blackburn if they are on song. Dubious.

I was at the airport during the game so following a min by min on the guardian and it sounded like Milner (esp second half) had a good game.

I then check the Telegraph player ratings today and he gets..... 4/10.....

About right or not??

Not a chance mate. As DH says, whatever a player like Milner does it won't get the plaudits as there's too many who want to laud the Rag players for all they have done for English football.

6/10 for me and if it wasn't for Rooney's goal, he would have been 4/10, goal took him to 5.

was rooney's a deflection? I've read some people saying it is pure genius, and others saying it was a tasty deflection. I haven't seen it yet.

It looked like a really good goal as Rooney cut in from the left and hit a screamer from about 25 yards out into the top right hand corner. The the replays showed that he'd actually hit it quite low but the deflection took it up and over. Funny though, how the commentators still couldn't work out if it took a 'nick' off a Brazil player, seemingly wanting give full credit for what was perceived as a great strike.

A goal's a goal, as they say. They all count.

goal's a goal, very true ... just interesting how it seems like sometimes commentators will go out of their way to put down some as "helped a lot by that deflection" or "the deflection made it" or "could be an own goal that" and others are pure genius no matter that they've gone in only be virtue of the deflection and resulting spin.

I've watched it now ... gif form, don't have the original commentary, so can't go off that. But from the general camera view, you don't see the deflection. On every other angle though, it's quite clear and without the spin bringing it back round, probably going far wide.

haha yeah i'm a rag cos i don't like the England team....great.

Maybe its just cos i feel very little national pride I guess. Might be a generational thing but i know a lot of people around my age who feel the same thing. I'm more proud of Manchester than I am England.

I find the whole England thing ridiculously boring. My post was in reaction to Carl's hilariously over the top post aimed at Roy Hodgson. Just been so disillusioned with the England set up for about 10 years and i find it hard to give a shit whether we win or lose. It's just not a likable bunch of players. Cheering Rooney or Ashley Cole or Terry always pained me.

I agree. I couldn't give two shits about England and genuinely cannot remember the last time I watch one of their matches.

Why should I spend all season hating Rooney but then when the fat meatball head pulls on a white shirt suddenly support him or cheer one of his goals?

I'm surprised that anyone apart Bury, Stockport, Oldham, etc teams that are going to win fuck all, their fans are England fans.
