Spain should win this with a cigar on.

As for England, Stuart Pearce as manager? Jordan Henderson captain? "Puts head in hands"

So Biton in the Israeli squad.

Ibrahim, who i hope comes back this summer, and Omar, who's just been released, in the Norway squad.

Isco in the Spain squad.

and my one to watch in the England squad, Nathan Redmond.

Cheers for that.

Seems Norway has one former City player, Omar Elabdellaoui, and then one current, Ibrahim.

What's our norwegian link? Do we have one?

We have (or at least used to have.... this was done during PEarce era if my memory serves me) some sort of first rejection agreement with some Norwegian club if my memory serves me. Probably Rosenborg but can't remember which one anymore.

Not Strømsgodset? We had two kids on loan there during the spring: Abdisalam Ibrahim and Razak Nuhu.

We have an agreement with Strømsgodset which seems to partly involve signing kids from Africa & sending them there. I presume we try them out there & if one lad turns out to be superb, we will try to get him qualified to play over here, otherwise we just try to get the lads a career in football.

Mohammed Abu was exceptional there according to everyone I've spoken to, plus Atletico's coach was apparently raving about him in the UEFA, but he has done nothing elsewhere since.

We have one young Norwegian lad from them who looks quite a prospect though.

Re this tournament; if we are serious about signing Isco (& possibly Thiago) we need to get it done pretty quick, before Spain play many games imo or their price may go up alarmingly.

I like Jantschke. That Kolasinac guy is supposed to be real one for the future. Ditto Can but that's only going according to some reports. Patrick Herrman seems impressive as well. And Bernd Leno would probably be close to most senior teams in Europe but you know how it is with goalkeepers in current Germany senior team.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Don't forget Rode (possibly going to Bayern in the future), Holtby, Volland & a couple others.

On top of that Germany are missing Trapp - arguably the best keeper in the Bundesliga last season until his major injury. Though Baumann & Leno are both very good as well.
Also injured are Kirchhoff (signed by Bayern), Jung (usually first choice RB in the U21 squad) & Arslan (first team midfielder for Hamburg).

That said, Italy have some serious talent upfront. Insigne, Immobile, Destro, Paloschi, Borini, Florenzi + Verratti in midfield.

I've only just noticed. Looked like a touch of handball at the time but thought we'd got away with it.

From the Beeb:

2033: DISALLOWED GOAL- England U21 0-0 Italy U21

England have the ball in the net! But it won't count. A lovely finish though as Nathaniel Clyne threads a pass through into the stride of Connor Wickham, he's in on goal and clips it over goalkeeper Francesco Bardi with a fine first-time strike. The flag was raised though and the Sunderland man was just offside. Promising though.

2035: DISALLOWED GOAL- England U21 0-0 Italy U21

Chaos. Absolute chaos!

Craig Dawson heads the ball home from a corner to put England ahead but while the replays are shown on TV the referee overrules the earlier decision and rules it out. After a few chaotic minutes we are back at 0-0...

Bloody hell ref, you point to the spot and then give it as a freekick. Phew!

And then they score from the freekick.

Harsh. Butland should've stopped that free kick or had a man on the post, plus there was the mix-up with Clyne in the first half, but he's still a very promising and talented young goalkeeper.

You know, we don't have to label everyone shite or ace.

No we don't. Thanks.

I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."
